Harvester Towing

To the best of everyone’s ability do not minimize towing for the gas extender versions to 5k. That will cause you all to lose a drastic amount of reservations just by that alone. People want trucks for truck things. Especially for that price. It’s evident in the forums. Towing is a huge component in that especially since you are advertising a full size truck. If
You were talking midsize (Rivian) the conversation may be different. The sweet spot is 7500. If you can get it there. I can almost guarantee you will make a great amount of people happy as that also is a good number to tow a vast amount of things.

I believe these EVs need stuff like this like a kill switch. We are essentially relying on code.

Maybe consider moving the generator to the frunk for better towing weight distribution on the Harvester (or all) models?
Keeping the Traveler-Harvester model's towing capacity at 7K or higher is a necessity for me.

I don't know who's on it or if any of you know it exists, but Scout has a marketing group/forum called Scout Wayfinders. I got an invitation to join at the release (I don't know why) and it's essentially a focus marketing group. There appear to be 999 of us. About once per month they give us activities to complete (surveys) and there's a forum (though this forum is far more robust). Anyway, yesterday they put up an activity/survey that asked for impressions on towing capacity for a "rugged mid-size SUV." They didn't call it the Traveler but I'm assuming that's what it was. It asked to rate priorities, whether you'd be satisfied with a towing capacity of 3,500, 5,000, 7,000, 8,000, or 10,000 lbs, asked if you'd be willing to pay for more for more towing capacity (like maybe a tow package), and had some other performance-related towing things (like towing range guidance, performance while towing, etc.) This tells me towing is high on Scout's radar.

My required towing capacity is 7000 lbs or greater with a hitch weight of 750. If a "towing package" will be required...so be it. The package should have a brake controller and associated wiring pre-installed for trailer brakes, plus the associated trailer lights. A load leveling option such as AirLift bags or something similar would be nice, too. There needs to be a MINIMUM class III (or IV) hitch option.

The announced towing number for the BEV Traveler (SUV) is 7K. The announced towing number for the BEV Terra (pickup) is 10K. There has not been an official announcement for Harvester towing numbers yet. The 5K towing number for the Harvester Traveler is from the Jay Leno video, and Scout reps have already said that is not a final number. There has been lots of speculation on this forum, and the engineering types here have pointed out that the location of the Harvester engine will likely limit the towing ability due to the impact it has on weight distribution.

IMHO, Scout has made it clear their focus is on off-road capabilities, not on maximum towing. If you need a truck that (a) uses gas and (b) can tow more than 5K, you will likely be disappointed when Scout releases final numbers for the Harvester.

I LOVE the posters. I don't know if you all got one of each or if I did because I have a reservation for the Traveler and the Terra, but they are awesome. I (my wife) framed them and have them hanging in my office at work and one (the Traveler) you can see in the background on Zoom and Teams meetings.

That was the original plan when I reserved at the Scout reveal. I was going to get the Terra BEV and my wife the Traveler Harvester. But with the Traveler Harvester being prioritizing and the Terra, especially the BEV, "delayed," that's off the table. My wife needs a new car by 2028, she knows I LOVE the Scout design, and she's more of a Rivian-style person anyway, so she gave in, allowed me to get the Scout, and she will be getting an R2. I'll hold onto the Terra reservation and when it comes out, maybe I'm ready for a new vehicle by then (doubt it, but you never know).
