Harvester towing

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

I would strongly suggest the harvester model towing more than 5k. This is going to be a deal breaker for most people and cause a lot of cancelled reservations. My opinion but I would not have announced something like this without all the details
In place to make a firm stance. This has created a lot of confusion and speculation and as a result many cancelled reservations. I would like to see the Terra at least able
To tow 7500 at minimum and the traveler at 5000k minimum. It makes no sense for both the tow the same with one able
To tow nearly 3k more on the pure ev models. This is just my suggestion. Keeping the price within the mentioned amount during announcement I hope is possible to have the towing range increased ( 7500 for Terra 5000 for traveler) that’s my suggestion and opinion.

Wait, now that is a pedestrian warning we can all get around. If someone would dare step out in front of this rig, or somehow not hear the thunder of the exhaust stacks…they are met with this.
That would be the premium audio system! I was thinking like 8-10 speakers for the base system. But seeing the flames made me think-will it come with or have optional Nitrous in case a Tesla pulls up next to me and wants to drag race?

This might have already been suggested but I wanted to ask about the generator placement. Since the anticipated towing capacity on the Terra Harvester has dropped from 10,000 to 5,000 I have seen some suggestions that this is due to the Harvester Generator being placed on the rear axle and that is what limits the towing capacity. Why not put the Harvester Generator under the hood and eliminate the frunk? If given the choice between having a 10,000 lb towing capacity with the Harvester Generator and no frunk vs 5,000 lb towing capacity with the frunk available (generator mounted on the rear axle) I would definitely rather have the 10,000 lb towing capacity and no front trunk. Maybe this has already been discussed and maybe having a front trunk is more desirable to the majority? But for me personally, I would rather have the generator under the hood in a traditional placement with 10,000 lb towing capacity rather than 5,000 with a frunk.

Welcome to the forum!

This was two pages back. At this time this is about an official response as we can get from Scout about towing capacities.

Just going off of what many people here have said, most would prefer retaining the frunk. Jamie also confirmed there are test mules running around so packaging and drivelines are most likely finalized for the first generation Scouts.

No worries!

For what its worth many of us share your concerns and dont want you to feel alienated or anything. There are just a lot of unkowns and we are trusting that Scout is aware of it and trying to do their best to give us as much capability as they can.
Right now my motto is “faith and patience”. SM hasn’t let me down yet so I’m choosing to have faith and this is a situation where I have no choice but to have patience.

What I will say having seen them in person, is whenever the concepts are close to you I would highly recommend going to see them. It’s worth it. Even not being able to sit in them, it’s still worth it to go.
