EV reservation holders, would you consider the Harvester

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

Ford killing the Lightning for a future EREV got me to questioning. I have no doubt, if priced right they will be able to sell more EREV's than EV's. Likewise, there will be more people willing to go from gas to EREV than strait from gas to EV. But just curious, what percentage have no desire for a stop gap measure (or from going from your current EV to something that has gas again)

Now we are talking about Scouts, so will include options for Terra and Traveler - second curiosity is if the percentages change because it is a truck or suv.

I will stay EV. I’d like a scout. I’ve seen the transition having my hybrid accord. The scouts are designed to be interchangeable and they have said the line is designed to run either or OR both. So with all the engineering done on the BEV why would they kill it. All these other vehicles weren’t designed to do both-but SM had the foresight to realize they could adapt and offer both. My assumption is both power source options will be similar cost so it gives them flexibility. If you have needs that require EREV that’s fine. If you don’t have those restrictions and you’ve read all the experiences BEV drivers here have posted-why on earth would you want the complexity of an engine when BEV is a superior product (again-mountain Midwest-maybe not due to altitude changes and limited infrastructure). Everything is simpler with a BEV. And I’ve been wondering this to counter-if Scout service is limited initially and the send techs to your house-electrical BEV components are pretty manageable. But is a tech gonna pull your engine out to do repairs? Are the gonna have mobile service trucks with a lift so they can get under the vehicles.
I originally wanted a new scout thinking it would be comparable to a Bronco. I accepted no removable roof, I accepted cabana as my only open air option and I accepted the BEV and want that simplicity. We own and SUV and I’ve told my wife-if tomorrow Honda announces an S2000 with operable top I’d struggle to hold onto my Scout reservation. For now let’s bring back the positives and presume SM isn’t going to quit because legacy dealers have quit. SM was built as all new-not legacy so they can flex with both and actually increase their sales opportunities.

If they were to delay BEV it wouldn’t be for that substantial of a time. If we consider that a decent amount of reservations will fall through and not become orders, and that there will be an attempt to meet most if not all reservations turned orders within the first year or two. To substantially delay BEV models would require scout to produce more than necessary. EREV models to start trying to sell them to non-reservation holders, which is then sort of shooting themselves in the foot with this whole community thing by ignoring a sizable amount of people waiting for a vehicle

If Scout motors start pulling that stupid Sh$$ move that the big 3 are doing with their EV programs. I AM OUT! Okay so I said it out loud. I feel better now. I don’t believe Scout Motors would ever do this, not to worry. I just wanted to share where I stand. Traveler EV all the way. First, last, delayed; whatever….

a better question might be, how many people expect to follow through on their reservations. Were all obviously here with the intention of following through, but some people might just be holding a place for the off chance or might cancel for another vehicle like an R2. I know my friend had a reservation for the lightning, hummer, and Rivian at one point but went with the R1S. For me I’m fully committed to making my reservation a reality with working extra to get on top of my finances and have the capitol to reasonably purchase, so unless something happens in my life or scout pulls some massive fail I’m here to see my BEV Terra all the way to my garage

I’m all in. Scout would have to do something crazy like get rid of the tire carrier or shrink it down to Bronco Sport size.

I have test driven about 20 vehicles. My husband calls me Goldilocks. The Scout is just right. As long as they keep going in the direction they are going I’m ordering my BEV Traveler as soon as humanly possible.

Also, this might be a good thread for you to start and pose this exact question.

I can wait for the BEV but only for so long. Based on current offers, I think my only realistic backup plan is Cadillac Lyriq once refreshed for MY27-28, although its a relatively low-rider. Wife generally likes MB but my self image doesn't want to be seen in one.

I hope Scout doesn't neglect opportunity to capture mainstream onroad and/or mildly-premium brand shoppers by going all-in for offroading, tire carriers, chunky tires, etc. BoF worries me a bit (flimsy motion control) but hopefully a stiff/steel suspension will counter that.

Pretty much me as well. Unless as I said-a new Honda S2000 soft top was announced and was killer looking-then I’d had to pause and think. Those along with a Porsche Boxster have been my dream cars. Scout is first true love but a sweet, top down coupe would satisfy my mid life crisis needs 🤣

Did you see that Honda Heritage thing they are going to do. Making parts for the old cars and starting with the NSX. My husband loved his S2000. He put 120,000 miles on in 8 years.

Yep that’s it. That’s the one car I feel like we should have kept is his S2000.

Ha! I found the picture. I have pictures going back years on my phone. As long as it wasn’t raining he drove with the top down. Didn’t care how cold it was. We drove from our house in Murrieta, Ca to Vegas the end of December. It was California cold. This was me in the car. He would blast the heat and have the roof down. 😹

I would have a very tough time going back to gas at this stage. I'm 100% Pure BEV Terra or BUST!

There's definitely an opening here, it just seems like it isn't for one of the big 3, which is fine by me.

Another thing I would have a hard time with is going back to a brand like Toyota, or one of the new foreign brands. Rivian has demonstrated that there is so much potential right here in the USA for great American trucks that are highly capable, drive extremely well and have great tech. This is the spot I hope to see Scout fill... A slightly more rugged and more reasonably priced EV truck that I can get dirty and (not feel so bad about scratching) and will likely be less expensive to own and repair too.

I agree with your sentiment. Real American made trucks. I am very disappointed with Lincoln these days. They have started building and importing vehicles from China for the US market like the likes of Buick, Polestar and Volvo.

When I had my 328 convertible if it was over 50 top was down and always took it out first snow of the season with top down. My daughter was like 8 and loved every minute of it

Snacks! :)

I'm down for the Terra EV and that is all I'm considering, if it was EREV only then it would be a no for me. I think a Rivian R1T would be a bit too small for my needs so I would have to see what is around in 2027/2028 if the Chevy/GMC are still full EV and if any others have hit the market at that point. A used Lightning would be okay as well but I'd be a little concerned with future value/parts since they have stopped making it.

It is already going to be hard enough to go away from BMW. I would not be interested in a Harvester for my personal use. I am only interested in the Electrall (;)). My family is lukewarm to uninterested in the Scout as it is because of the size. They only tolerate it because I like it so much and have been involved with this forum for so long. My wife does have a somewhat valid point. She does not like all this retro throwback stuff with automobiles. She thinks if you want one that looks old, get the original. Otherwise, buy something completely modern. I do not exactly follow that line of thinking, but I get it.
