EV reservation holders, would you consider the Harvester

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

I'm down for the Terra EV and that is all I'm considering, if it was EREV only then it would be a no for me. I think a Rivian R1T would be a bit too small for my needs so I would have to see what is around in 2027/2028 if the Chevy/GMC are still full EV and if any others have hit the market at that point. A used Lightning would be okay as well but I'd be a little concerned with future value/parts since they have stopped making it.
The used Lightning is tricky because there is no federal law in the U.S. that mandates vehicle manufacturers to provide replacement parts for a specific period after a vehicle model is discontinued. Only obligation is to cover original warranty.

It is already going to be hard enough to go away from BMW. I would not be interested in a Harvester for my personal use. I am only interested in the Electrall (;)). My family is lukewarm to uninterested in the Scout as it is because of the size. They only tolerate it because I like it so much and have been involved with this forum for so long. My wife does have a somewhat valid point. She does not like all this retro throwback stuff with automobiles. She thinks if you want one that looks old, get the original. Otherwise, buy something completely modern. I do not exactly follow that line of thinking, but I get it.
Oh the retro yet modern is what I love about it. The new stuff is too new for me.

I appreciate a modern take on a legacy design, Especially when they design in real buttons for every day used vehicle features. Now I am not against touch-screens. I just think not everything should be on them.

Sadly, I think the closest competitor to the Traveler is the Cybertruck... To me, the Cyber Truck is more of an SUV than a truck - sure it has a bed, but with the cover it is essentially a 2 row SUV. It is not a direct truck replacement, but may be a better SUV replacement. Honestly, I usually think of the Cyber Truck as almost a mini-van with a bed. I have parked my mini-van next to one and looked down at the Cyber Truck.

If the Cyber Truck is still in production in 2027/2028, a used one will even be about the same price as the Traveler maybe. I would prefer the Traveler, but the Cyber Truck would probably be my fall back if their is in an EV Traveler.

I guess there is one other option, but I have less love for the looks of the EV Hummer than the Cyber Truck.

Just a joke, if emissions were not a question - bolt on a VW air cooled horizontally opposed 4. Easy to work on, and I got to the point I could pull one in 10 minutes. Of course that was only because I was pulling it more than running it... I doubt I drove that car more than 500 miles, and probably pulled that engine 5 times. In all fairness, all but the last time was due to a previous problem in the transmission (that you had to pull the motor to work on)-then I threw a rod and screwed up a lot more.

Many fond memories of those old air cooled VW engines. Easy to work on and hard to kill.

Yes, I'm having this thought right now having bought my used Lightning a few months before Ford announced they are discontinuing it.

On the F150 Lightning forum, they said they will provide support/updates for 10 years. I love the Lightning and before the announcement I had considered keeping it, but now I will definitely get the Terra EV when it comes out. With an EV, it's a computer on wheels, so if they stop providing updates after 10 years, you could be left with security/functionality issues that could really impact driveability, data security, etc.

But could it be exhausted down since there isn’t an easy path to the rear. Was thinking more in line with a lawn mower or two stroke and just the carburetor. Has me wondering where the exhaust pipe will breach from?
I hate seeing the muffler when I walk up to my Wrangler from the back. Ugly. Another reason why I want a BEV. No muffler to look at.
