What one thing would you like to see changed from concept to production?

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
I saw there is supposed to be a push button start/ stop and have a physical key. I drive my Tesla A LOT cross country and my favorite feature is there is no physical key needed unless you valet. The ability to just get in the car, put it in gear and go without having to turn it on is one of my favorite features. I also think this is smart due to not being able to really hear if the vehicle is running. If these two items are implemented it would be cool if the push start/stop it was an option to use and it was somewhat hidden (maybe under the dash). As far as a key, everyone does that not sure if you’re trying to be innovative that seems like a missed step.

Welcome to the forum. Lots to see and this topic has extensive commentary. Check out the search button and use key word start button (guessing) and should lead you to a lot of conversations regarding those topics. Welcome aboard

Interestingly it’s probably a 50/50 of those of us wanting at a minimum a key fob and the others just wanting to open and go. Good debates to read

Just to clarify slightly - the "open and go" still requires some form of credential or handshake with the vehicle (could be a FOB) - the difference between an EV and ICE is there is a starter that needs to spin and an engine that needs to then fire-up in order for the vehicle to run (will be the same if running the Harvester, so maybe the Harvesters get a start/stop button). In an EV, there isn't an engine to start or anything mechanical per se that needs to happen (just a message that gets passed to the truck to WAKE UP!), so once the vehicle is unlocked, you are good to go. In my mind, a start button after completing a handshake with the vehicle with a valid credential and "waking it" is just another step. Same with a STOP button! Once you are in PARK and you exit the vehicle it locks. There is nothing to STOP...

The extra step of having to press a START button or a STOP button after waking it would be quite odd to me now, if I am being honest!

Whether it be a FOB, a phone, a key, a card, a wristband a code, a watch, a ring, your eyeball or fingerprint doesn't matter at all in an EV, as long as it is awakened by one of many possible means that passes the truck a valid credential...

So does an EV auto-lock everytime you leave the vehicle? Or only when you leave the vehicle with whatever was used to pass the valid credential? We don't currently own an EV.

Understood. My only question is does SM really want to make 2 unique steering wheels or they just carry the button to both and it gets utilized. Maybe in the EV it’s a programmable push sequence like in movies 🤣. Like SOS pattern pushes. I wouldn’t want or need that but for folks in areas where theft seems much more prevalent maybe that’s what the button gets used for

I would like to see them eliminate the Start/Stop button even for Harvester. Even harvester vehicles primary means of propulsion is the 150 mile of range high voltage battery. Even at a very low charge the vehicle should function as an EV and then based on settings start the Harvester automatically and charge the battery and run the vehicle. If your using the Harvester for like camping, that should be a setting in the touchscreen.

The CES video back in January shows that there will be different settings for the Harvester. If I’m remembering correctly you could select EV only, Harvester only or let your Scout determine what to use.

Yes. The discussion was more about eliminating the Start/Stop button. Unless I misread it.

I don't want programmers in some office in SC or SFO to be guessing my intentions. Give me an action to indicate my intentions. Sitting in the seat with my key in the car isn't enough to indicate that I want the vehicle to go into driveability mode.

I like how Tesla does it, vehicle wakes up when I open the door but isn't ready to drive. Once I put my foot on the brake then I can put it into gear and start driving. Once I put it in park that stops the driving mode and then when I get out it will auto turn off. I also have a setting to leave it unlocked at home since it's in my garage and it still powers off just fine (and I can manually lock it through the app if needed).

Never been in a Tesla. Do they have Lock/unlock buttons on the inside door panel as well?
