What one thing would you like to see changed from concept to production?

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
I don’t want it to lock when I walk away while I’m using it to work, though. I want to be able to go, grab a fence post, come back, set the jackhammer, drive it into the ground, go set another fence post 20 feet away, drive it, etc. And I want to bring my phone with me so I can listen to my audiobook. And I don’t want to deal with waiting for the truck to power cycle each time I need to move it.

Or I want to operate a water pump or a power washer on an extension cord 50 feet from the truck without worrying about it shutting off, locking, and disabling the power in the bed.

There are dozens of scenarios where I want to have my phone/key with me away from the truck and still want the truck to stay on, and the outlets to remain powered.
My hesitation with phone is it becomes app based and after the problems with our/my daughters Bronco we had-the app created problems they couldn’t solve so then suddenly she was back to the fob. I just know I’ve never had an issue with a key fob but I have with phone keys so for me I don’t mind options but I don’t want to have to rely on a phone for entry

If everything is app based what do you do for a valet?

I would suggest definitely put the gear shifter in the middle of the vehicle. Or at least have an option for the console shifter. I personally like these shifters better than the little electronic steering wheel mounted shifter. Give people the option to have either. If Scout is about choice and personalization then give it to the consumer. I should not be forced to have the same type of shifter that the Rivians do.
Your post just gave me fond memories of a 4-speed shifter on the floor. It really sucked when the 3rd gearing was worn out and I had to hold it in gear for 3rd which made it challenging to hold the coffee cup while steering too, but still a fond memory 🤣

I don’t know but I’m not special enough for valet. I guess some of us are more grey poupon than others on this forum 😀
😹 I know you are teasing but seriously even hospitals have valet parking now.

University of Chicago, where my specialists are, have valet parking. The hospital where my son works here in town has valet parking. There’s valet in unexpected places.

Ford has done a poor job of PAAK, but I wouldn’t use any vehicle with it because I don’t want my phone to be the key to my vehicles. I don’t think everything needs to be cloud-based or phone-centered. A key fob is great. I can loan it out; I can leave it in my purse or my pocket; I can leave it in the truck if I need to.

When I was using Phone As A Key with my Lincoln If I was out working in the garage with my phone in my pocket the Car and Phone were yacking to each other so much it would kill my Phone battery. I got rid of PAAK.

If basic functionality required an app, that’d be a dealbreaker for me. It’s fine for stuff I don’t really need, or things that make sense like remote monitoring or turning on hvac from afar, but if I have to have a working app just to use it, that’s just asking for trouble. But I’m sure @Jamie@ScoutMotors wouldn’t let us down like that :)

I’d be surprised if it was necessary. Even my Tesla you can use without the app if you want, the app just enhances it (remote climate control, sentry viewing, vent windows, send directions to navigation in advance, etc.)
