Road Trip: Harvester vs EV vs Gas Hog

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
I haven't really started looking; but, are there any smartphone apps for PHEVs/BEVs/EREVs that can gather stats and calculate real-time total cost of ownership numbers?

I use a smartphone app called "Road Trip" for decades with data stored online in Dropbox so we can input and have access in real-time from any of our smart devices (iPhones and iPad). I haven't seen something similar to Road Trip for PHEVs, BEVs, or EREVs electrical data to be added/substituted along with the all other calculations (going for the EREV SUV for the reason for BEV+I.C.E. app)? Wasn't an issue with my two mild hybrids since 100% of the electricity used is generated by the V-6 I.C.E. or regen braking.

My current Road Trip app stores:
- current vehicle stats (mileage, fuel type, tire size, units, carbon foot print, etc..
- gas stops (location/date/time, odo reading, price, gas type, payment type, category like work/vacation/personal),
- calculates mpgs avg and other stats (miles driven, cost per for those miles, etc...),
- any/all expenses you want to track (wipers, tires, 12v battery, schedule/unscheduled maintenance, accessories, etc...),
- provide reminders on any mileage based maintenance items like tire rotations or cabin filters
- calculates road trip stats (vehicle stats and $$ spent on two week vacation to Yellowstone NP for example), and
- up to date total cost of ownership per day and per mile

My 18 RLX hybrid purchased used with 7200 miles in Dec/2019 cost me $2.22 per day or $0.12 per mile with +54,000 miles to date. Those numbers include fuel, accessories (window tint, PPF, floor mats, etc..), schedule/unscheduled maintenance, tires/alignments, replaced a pot hole bent rim, replacement of 12v battery, etc...
Like the idea of an app like that. How much of that info has to be added manually to the app and how much is linked to your gas card or I could imagine it linked to Wuicken where it pulls the data from the spread sheet headings. Just curious on that as I am not regimented enough to input that stuff but think it would be an awesome tool

The data is 100% manually inputted. It can be a PITA because I'm an ol' fart and have fat fingers. I'm not a texter and it take me 4X longer to text back to the wife and our son (always get the smartphone with the largest screen).
