Off-topic stuff…

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
Hey we have EV school buses in town. I was walking the dogs and the first school bus came through. Traditional engine sound and smelly diesel. Then the next bus came through. It was so quiet and when I looked at the back the bus number was EV2. Excellent. We need more of those.
It's the perfect use for EVs. A defined route/distance every day with plenty of time to charge overnight. Even better, being plugged in, the bus could already be warmed up for the driver/kids on those cold mornings.

100% - Fleet EV use is the future. Overnight off-peak cheap charging / daytime driving. Aging fleets of local & municipal vehicles should be a mandate. Not to mention better performance for First Responders. My R1T will beat any cruiser or EMT to an accident, unless it is this one. LOL

That makes me wonder how long we'll have the cheaper charging at night. As EV usage ramps up, I'm thinking those discounted rates will be reduced and possibly even disappear in certain areas.

Our electric company is a nonprofit co-op and we get a check once a year that’s a portion of the profits. It’s not much, like $175, but this summer the other electric company in town, people with that as their service provider their bills doubled. It made the paper. People were getting electric bills in the summer that were $800 to $1000 a month. Ours stayed the same. You couldn’t pay me to change.

Yes, the story looks something like this (but without a helmet and track)!

🤔 I’d prefer to see at least one state trooper spinning out into a produce cart with minimum one cracked watermelon on the hood and an angrily tossed hat, but it’s plausible. I could be buying what you’re selling. This really isn’t solid proof, though.

This is exactly the key. Next will be scout Terra fleet trucks around the country. Glad to see the evolution

Some photos from this past weeks adventures out on the northern tip of the OBX. One 5 bedroom beach house, 6 family members, 3 dogs, and week full of fun.

I have vids of us leaving Sat. morning during the onset of this current nor'easter and the wind was out of the northeast blowing the sand across the beach, looking quiet eerie as the rain fell. Unfortunately without sharing them to a file share site and linking them, I can't get them uploaded here.

We use this expedition as it was originally intended but with that comes all the maintenance and then some...
2 transmissions
- with additional rebuild on the 2nd
1 complete set of cam phasers replaced
1 rebuild of the rear differential
3 sets of front hubs
1 complete replacement of all 4 strut/shock assemblies with aftermarket
1 complete replacement of the rear sway bar
1 set of sway bar bushings front/rear
2 sets of sway bar end links front/rear
1 rear A/C system replacement
2 sets of spark plugs
1 Set of A/T tires
1 Set of new 17 in. wheels.
Still wouldn't have it any other way though

Here’s some packing photos to show how everything’s packed.

We have a custom Canvas Back two piece cover for the second row that was intended for dog use but they hate it so now we fold the seats and the cover is just extra protection for the seats.

We have standard cargo protectors beneath the queen six fitted sheet that gets placed down over the seat backs and cargo area (wraps under rear storage tray and then over the second row folded). A large folding dog crate is between first and second rows along with a set of traction boards. A 120x120 inch blanket (folded once) goes down. Next the food bin, three large rolled blankets in a vacuum sealed bag, water cases, portable vacuum, cooler, tool bag, recovery gear bag and air down/up case goes in. Everything gets a strap to hold it in place that’s attached to both hand holds on the B pillars.

Not shown is the cooler that goes next to the vacuum, large 50 gallon tote that is strapped to the carrier, and then the three big dog beds that go in the back.

That’s quite the setup.
