We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. I just got home from taking the Blazer to a dealership to see if it has any available updates for the car itself or the Android Automotive OS. When I pulled in, they couldn't tell me anything just asked if there was anything wrong with my car, reiterated that I can't get CarPlay, took my key and pulled it around the back, and then told me it could take two days before they get to it. What's the point of an appointment then? It's so ridiculous that there's not a simple database that can allow me to look up my car and all available updates for it, then maybe a way to allow me to just do it at home, because I'm sure the dealer is going to overcharge me for less labor than a tire rotation. I'll be surprised if it's less than $30.
They don't want you to be able to work on your own car, that's the point. I've been putting off taking my car in to get the suspension ride height sensors reset, but stumbled across a tool on Amazon (XTool). For $150 (less than the dealer visit would've been) I'm now able to reset my suspension height, reset/learn new TPMS sensors, redo my window limit switches, etc. So MANY options!! Hopefully they release something like this for EVs. Pretty sure it's just China stealing GM's Tech 2 info and putting it in a more affordable box. Sadly, that box won't work for your EV.

Unfortunately, I can say with a high level of certainty that the "day or two" has nothing to do with the EV/SoftWare... We have the misfortune of this being our only GM dealer for hours in any direction, I took the Bolt in for a rotation and was told it could be a day, we took the volt for the A/C and they kept it for a week, because they would only let one guy touch it, then he only told us what we knew already, and charged us for a service we didn't agree to. Similarly, for the Bolt, I took it in for a Charge Port upgrade, showed up at the scheduled time, and was told I could leave the car or reschedule because "The EV tech didn't show up." I returned on time after rescheduling (8AM two weeks later) they kept my car for 5 days and thanks to the MyChevrolet app I know the only time my car was in a bay was on day 3 and day 5 I was called 1 hour before they closed to get my car back and they tried to charge me for service I had already paid for.
As much as I don't care for dealers, I really don't like or trust this one with anything more than a tire rotation; I even applied for a job, got an offer was told to call back the next day and was avoided, not only did I call but showed up to try and talk, was told the manager was busy, showed up for a rotation and saw the guy pull a 180 the moment he saw me walking to the waiting room.
Does it not have an app showing the latest SW release? Why do you have to go to the dealer for updates?
It had an update when I got it home, attempted to install it and it came back as failed multiple restarts later it never came back, so if there is an update on the dealers can push it. And there’s a newer version of android automotive, the car is running 12, the 25 models run 14 and there’s not a lot of info on whether the 24 RS can update to it (I’ve only found conflicting information), but if it can only the dealer/service center can push it
I dropped my car at the dealer yesterday morning at 10 AM. My car was moved inside to a bay at 5 PM (one hour before they close the service center). My car stayed their all night, they open at 8 AM for service work, they called me at 8:50 AM to tell me I was right, there was an update and they would call when it was ready, 10 AM the car is moved back into the parking area where it never moved until 4:48 PM, when they called to tell me it was ready to be picked up. I had texted them at noon for an update and was told the Tech said he didn't have a time, just promised today.. But then I go pick up my car; the good is my car is covered under bumper-to-bumper still, so they couldn't charge me for the tech's time. The bad/annoying, they told me I was right, but I could have just waited for the update to reappear. Then I get in the car and can't seem to find any evidence of the update. The infotainment is still on AA 12, updated in June, and the OTA updates still say the last was in March. So after all of that, it feels like I missed a day of work for literally no reason, with no obvious updates to the car. I really would like AA 14 for running a YouTube playlist in the car, since Bluetooth is hit or miss for me, and I can't seem to get a sideloaded APK to work no matter what I do
Our local GM/Chevy dealer (we have no competition within a brand and almost no competition between brands) is anti-EV. So I bought the hardware needed to do my own diagnostics, updates, and digital/software repairs.
I wish I had the space time and knowledge to be able to avoid that place, I like that they offer mobile service for tire rotations now, but they just get under my skin.
That said, I still can't find anything showing they actually updated my software, but after some searching it seems most if not all MY-2024 GM vehicles with the 17-inch AA display have slightly older hardware and are incapable of upgrading past AA 12. Seems a little sketchy to me to offer vehicles in the same generation, but with the first round being incapable of a core software update soon after, it also seems GM can offer a unit swap, but only if you complain about the "right issue"
