Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
I don't know why, but I really like this design. Too bad it has zero practicality for me and it's a Jeep, so it would be in the shop all the the time and drive terribly. Sorry to all the Jeep owners, but I had a-door wrangler back in the late teens and it was the worst vehicle I ever owned, both in terms of reliability and function.
I get it. I’ve been lucky with mine that relative to others I haven’t had too many issues. She just hit 116,000 miles over the weekend. I would not buy a new Stellantis product,
But that Scrambler sure is cute.

It’s always been the case. They got complacent because they used to be the only game in town. Now there is Bronco, Defender (problematic too) and various others and Jeep/Stellantis doesn’t seem to think they need to improve quality.

Has there been any discussion by your state about where they're going to put these? I've always wondered why not place them in rest areas along the interstate. Seems to have plenty of space and they are spaced regularly...

In any event, I love it. Way to go PA!
Haven’t dug into it too deeply. In our case I’m hoping more in the middle of the state off some of the older east to west routes. Eastern side has grown and can certainly use more but the central areas need them to help get EV adoption started

The screen capture indicates southeast PA so expect Philly and the surrounding suburbs and smaller cities.

Yeah-saw that and will help there as well but to gain traction they also need to hit rural areas but everything is baby steps. Hoping to do 98% of charging at home so not a huge deal but adoption only happens if you remove hurdles and excuses so rural areas should be addressed in addition to main corridors in and around Philly

I don't hate the Scrambler concept. It is not a Wrangler. It is not practical to build as shown (virtually no body joints). It is an extreamly niche vehicle as shown (2 door trucks don't sell well, open vehicles don't sell well at all (convertables do - but it is not being shown as such). If you have ever ridden in rear facing seats - you know how much you enjoyed them.

Now make it a hard top convertible, flip the rear seats around and make them easily removable. You could get a modern LJ. It could sell at limited volume, But it would could not really replace anything in my driveway except my LJ - and I like my LJ, so I would not be a customer. Add to it the price they would ask, I definitely would not be a customer. Sell a very basic version at 40k - and if the Scout did not exist, maybe (I got my LJ for longer kayaking trips - and it is not a fun long trip vehicle). Make it an EV with over 350 mile range, maybe as well. But it will still suffer from the Jeeps large shoulders and cramped interior.

While I am still planning on the Traveler, if it fails I am more likely just going to try to make my LJ a better road vehicle first (I need to change the tires to cut the road noise - and accept my 2k covid tire mistake). If I knew I was going to keep it forever, also still would like to outboard it's suspension - which is no cheap and easy modification (Last I checked it was almost 10k, probably closer to 15k now).

Almost 2 more years for the Scout - maybe I will go by the tire shop this week.

Dear God-somebody please post something. M so bored watching election results.
Not to talk politics but now that SC flipped to Democrat do we think it will help or hurt SM’s causes?
Possible pro: what’s that, you guys are making electric cars and that was an initiative that our party liked and supported and a lot of the government money that was supposed to be supporting the infrastructure for all of that went away? Maybe your newly-elected democratic senators want to talk how they can help? Idk? 🤷‍♀️ That’s a possible positive outcome. I’d really like to hope that maybe public servants realize that they serve at the will of voters (I tend to think of voters as unexceptional people like myself who aren’t influential or are known for anything or hold any kind of sway over people, just have needs and maybe need help sometimes or want to be heard on an issue where it’s appropriate to call or write an e-mail to an elected official about a thing) and not just paid lobbyists and sometimes do things that benefit voters and maybe not do things out of spite, but I’d like to think a lot of things that I know aren’t actually true.

How about lawmakers try addressing tariffs in the legislature? That would surely be helpful. I’m still not sure how the executive branch gets away with willy-nilly setting tariffs when that’s supposed to be the job of Congress according to my AP govt and politics class way back in high school, but I guess that’s why I should have finished college.

You have to have enough members of congress willing to stand up and do their job. Maybe we’ll have that now.

I guess I like this article but it is slanted way too much towards making it look like VW is behind the wheel rather than Scout being completely independent.
Makes me wonder if it is cannon fodder for the dealer bologna…
