Decomposed Body Found in Impounded Tesla Registered to Singer D4vd, LAPD Investigating
Police say the decomposing body was found wrapped in a bag inside the front trunk of a Tesla impounded in Hollywood; the 20-year-old singer is currently on tour and has not been linked to the death.
Well… That 91.7% efficiency headline is very misleading. The commentary in the video is more accurate.
The values to look at for bifacial PV technology are:
Front: 25.67%
Back: 24.21%
But the panels are not generating almost twice what a monofacial panel would generate. This is because Earth's reflected light is, on average, only 30% of direct illumination. So you’re talking 24.21% of 30% = 7.3% of the incoming insolation. Add that to 25.67% of the incoming insolation for the front. That gives you about 34% of incoming insolation for the area of the panel. If you install over a white roof or white gravel, you can greatly increase the power generated.
Given that most monofacial PVs available today generate about 22% of incoming insolation, that’s still a good 50% improvement to PVs. That’s fantastic. It’ll still be a few years before these are on the market. And even longer before they’re on the market in the US, given the foolishness going on.
Also, I had to laugh at the “no quantum physics” comment early in the video. Everything about photovoltaics is quantum physics.

An addendum:
The video briefly showed panels oriented vertically facing east-west instead of south. That configuration produces a lot more energy in a day than the traditional south-facing panels. Using these bifacial panels in such a configuration, with a high albedo surface, especially if the surface is shaped in clever ways, you might be able to get up to 300% of what you could get in a south-facing configuration. For the same number of panels. You get less peak power, but you get more all day.

This feels very counterintuitive. Unlock billions in savings (which will just be respent on maintaining data centers) for our EVs! (aforementioned data centers wreaking absolute havoc on the environment). But at least we reduced the build cost of our vehicles by $900 (not reflected in sale price).
And 95% of businesses who have invested in AI have found no benefit and have lost money trying to get back to real, creative people. AI doesn't do creative. This will be a waste of money for VW.
I can’t wait until we hear that’s Scouts go into production.
