Cruise Control Following Distance (and other assists)

I can go either way on adaptive cruise. I still find I get very lazy when cruise is on and I don’t focus like I should. I personally just prefer to be actively making decisions when I drive because it keeps me engaged
I find it relives foot strain a lot, and it keeps me from accidentally going way too fast. With a smooth car, it’s way too easy to speed when there’s not much traffic around.
 
When pilot assist is enabled, it will constantly raise an alarm that you need to keep your hands on the wheel even if you already are.

Both our Subaru and Volvo do this to me and its super obnoxious. If I'm not death gripping the wheel or making minor adjustments, it thinks my hands arent on the wheel and starts yelling at me.

Like, I get it, but there's got to be a better way.

rather than deactivating the cruise control below some X speed

I'd love to see it go as low as 15 just so I can use it in some of the extremely long school zones we have.

I'm actually completely the opposite. I use adaptive cruise control all the time and find that I am able to spend more time on my surroundings instead of worrying about my speed/following distance etc. We have some crazy drivers who are blowing past the speed limit by 20+ and the cruise control really helps maintain safety (and avoid the blue) and fight off the urge to "stick with the pack"
 
I’m a day-one reservation holder, and recently traded in my Bronco for a Lincoln Corsair hybrid that is equipped with Ford’s BlueCruise. For the kind of driving I do, the system is such a game-changer. I do a 375-mile trip pretty much every week of the year, almost entirely on interstate. The system will let me take my hands off the wheel, and the adaptive cruise will come to a complete stop and start back up again without input from me. To change lanes, all I need to do is turn the turn signal on. It really works well. I do need to keep my eyes on the road and takeover occasionally, and the system will chirp at me if I take my eyes off the road for more than a couple of seconds. But after the 6 hour drive, I generally find myself much more rested and relaxed when I make it to my destination. I’d be over the moon if the Scouts had a similar hands-free option. When I’m just driving around town, this feature rarely gets used but it’s so nice for long roadtrips.

This is pretty much what I would want for hands free driving on interstates as well.
