Are you OK with Scout vehicles starting under $60K?

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

Slate and Scout are not going to be all that much of competition against each other I suspect. Sure, there will be people who see price as the main difference - but I think they are targeting almost completely different users. I spend too much time in my life driving to want something that has a less than great experience. Plus, while there will be a price difference, I am expecting Slate to nickel and dime options to the point that it will not be as much as people expect.

I did not answer the poll - I think it was poorly worded. Sure, I am OK with Scout pricing below $60, but I am also ok with it costing more. What matters is the customers perceived value of the product that is actually offered at whatever price.

I agree and I tried to reword the poll but it won’t let me. Soon as I posted I hated my wording but then it was too late

I completely agree with this. I think a lot of people will be surprised to see that once you feature match the Terra and the Slate the price probably isn't that different- and the quality/integration may be worth the difference.

Slate is RWD at launch, with AWD potentially being offered in the future. That immediately puts Slate in a different class than Scout.
And that’s a very legit point when you live in the snow belt. Great for the them but who wants a RWD truck in the north-nearly pointless after a weekend like we just went through

The feature still might not get close because of slates BYO and DIY “style” so if want it to be an suv you have to do that yourself or pay someone to do it for you

And the truck is $27k and the suv kit is $5k if I’m remembering right. There’s SUVs you can get for $32 with a lot more features.

The new Chevy Bolt is slated to start at $29k with more features and more range than the slate offers in its “max pack”
I understand if you want cheap and no features. Like a work truck. But adding a lot of features is going to nickle and dime that thing right up in line with a lot of other cars. heck my sons Venue was $23k. All the safety features and heated seats and 35 to 40 miles a gallon.
