We are working to close the remaining gaps in EREV and BEV development and market launch. Scott is confirming that we have more EREV reservations (the safer choice for many people on the fence about an EV) and pushing to get it to market. But BEV development continues and launch timing is still in the air.

Sounds like the state kinda shot themselves in the foot by agreeing to the aggressive schedule without having done all the groundwork, and then once the groundwork started they didn't account for $ being spent for being idle. This isn't really on Scout since they would have run into the same issues regardless of who/what the factory was for.

Agree here. A job this size would either have added co to Gen Y or they should have left certain things like acts of God be reimbursed or split with Scout. Kudos for Scout for great negotiations

South Carolinians have been burned by this exact kind of deal time and time again—enticing manufacturers with massive tax breaks and big promises that rarely pan out. Honestly, it’s partly our own fault, because we keep voting in the same greedy, shortsighted, and inept leaders who allow it to happen.

We’ve seen this play out before: citizens are told to pay more to receive what was already promised, or we never get what was promised at all. Meanwhile, companies walk away with sweetheart tax deals.

Our infrastructure—especially our roads—is terrible. Our schools are underfunded and struggling. Housing costs keep rising. Yet we’re constantly told that these deals will lead to better roads, stronger schools, and more revenue for everyone. It almost never works out that way.

The bottom line is that South Carolinians shouldn’t just "pay another $30 and stop complaining". If the state needs money, it can issue bonds. Scout can seek other private investment. But higher taxes are not the solution.

Look at Charleston County: we voted in a half-cent sales tax for road improvements. We were told that just 0.5%, especially with all the tourist spending, would fix our roads and bridges. Instead, nothing has changed. The roads are still awful, and the money seems to have disappeared into who knows what.

So I say: find the money somewhere else.

It sounds like they're cutting costs to make up for the loss of the $7,500 credit. That's understandable. Perhaps interest in their product has waned since the credit went away.

They’ve been walking dead for years. Model s used to be pretty nice, but they haven’t done anything to upgrade it. Hasn’t changed much in a long time, they’re just not relevant anymore. Dying of neglect.

I think about this a lot, but in 2020 I was up for a job that was a pretty big promotion/advanced commute. If I landed it I was going to buy a Model S to help ease all of that and kind of a treat-yourself moment.

Didn't get the job, thankfully.

The entire department was laid off a year and a half later, Elon took his mask off, and Tesla's are prime snowball targets.

What a different situation I'd be in! lol.

Exactly. The S was doomed as soon as other luxury OEM's could make a "Sport" trim of their EV's compelling. Are you telling me that I would have to spend $25k more on a Model S compared to a i5M? Like yes the range is less but lets also be real if we are buying vehicles in that performance category we are sacrificing real range.

Its so-so. AI and Technology can make mistakes, and whose to say this thing won't accuse a sober driver of being drunk when they might be tired from a long workday. We should just rely on Darwin. if they choose to drive, they should understand the consciences.
