We have said publicly that we have more reservations for EREV than we do for BEV. That said, the final production sequence still needs to be nailed down before we make any official announcements on rollout timing. As most of you know, we started development of our BEV first. EREV is no small project, given the additional complexity, additional parts and software involved. Meaning? Development is still moving, so while we work to go to market, timing will be everything. Obviously, if we have a strong reservation response to EREV, we want to try and offer that sooner than later. But BEV will still be offered as well. More details will come as we get closer to market launch.

My first thought was actually this as well. That if anything, the EREV was likely behind the BEV in terms of when it started development. But with the bulk of reservations being harvester, it makes sense.

But it sounds like the article isn't based on a new interview then?

Also for those that are undecided I hope we get specs around the same time so it’s easy to compare the two to help with decision making.

So most are saying EREV but what percentage of those are truly locked into an actual purchase. The majority of those speaking up regularly have said BEV. Makes you wonder which group will have more commitment when it comes time to commit to a physical order?

Though I’m not saying I think that would be the case.

I think it’s going to be a while before there’s backstock just waiting to be purchased.

Anyone know how long it took Rivian to get to that point? Where they are building cars to sell, not just building for actual orders? I hope that makes sense.

I dont think their would be, I imagine reservations will come first, but how far down would people be allowed to jump in from if they build EREV first, because it’s inevitable some reservations will fall through, and while our spots “in line” are already fluid, there has to a reasonable limit, It would feel quite anti community (in my opinion at least) if they built only EREV for the first year, BEV reservation holders have been here for just as long if not longer I know I was interested back when the outlines were all that existed.

Agree 100%. Day one BEV reservation holders shouldn’t have to wait 4 months longer because the prioritize the EREV even though line can handle both. So M/T/W is EREV and R/F is BEV until early res are covered then do 10 days of EREV and 2 days of BEV. You get the point …

sure, sure.. however. Being a reservation holder for early adoption is literally asking to be beta tester, if we wanted a perfected vehicle we would wait until after they building a stock to sell to the rest of the public

Scott is confirming that we have more EREV reservations (the safer choice for many people on the fence about an EV) and pushing to get it to market. But BEV development continues and launch timing is still in the air.

Sounds like the state kinda shot themselves in the foot by agreeing to the aggressive schedule without having done all the groundwork, and then once the groundwork started they didn't account for $ being spent for being idle. This isn't really on Scout since they would have run into the same issues regardless of who/what the factory was for.
