Off-topic stuff…

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

Welp the Wrangler won’t start. Red lightning bolt of death on the gauge cluster. Apparently that stands for ETC. The dealer has so many tow ins right now the soonest they can look at it is Wednesday. So it’s getting towed in next week. I have my MOPAR warranty and they said as long as it’s not because a rodent got in and ate anything it’s covered for my $100 deductible. I park in the garage and I know a rodent isn’t impossible but I don’t think it’s that. Sheesh.

Grrr. We took my son’s car since the Jeep is dead and someone dinged the shit out of the door. Dent and took off paint. And that door has PPF on it and ceramic coating. So after the jeep is fixed then we need to put a claim in on his car. 🤬

😭

They say bad news always comes in threes, I hope for your sanity that is not the case here. Don't let this lead you to the dark side, @cyure . Even if they say they have cookies, don't believe them! :D

I hope this was 2 and 3! Last week my kitchen sink started falling down. It’s under mount. Apparently whoever mounted it didn’t attach the brackets properly. I have been wanting a new sink. Mine is divided and I one just one big sink. My handyman came out and measured. It’s odd size. He still hasn’t been able to find ont to fit and it’s been a week. It’s braced with 2x4s at the moment so it doesn’t fall down. I swear.

A storm is coming through the next couple days and we might get some wintery mix/snow and the Jeep doesn’t go to get fixed until Wednesday. 😭. I won’t take the Supra out in this weather so looks like it’s my sons Venue. His car does have a snow mode but it’s not my Wrangler.. I'm not going anywhere unless absolutely necessary.

So weird about the animal clause... My wife's Edge Sport got chewed by an animal and it cost us thousands and it too was explicitly called out in the warrantee as not covered! So then they SHOULDN'T USE SOY-BASED WIRE COATINGS!!! (sorry for yelling). :)

I’m going to be that guy… Soy-based has nothing to do with rodents chewing wire insulation. By the time the insulation is insulation, it’s gone through so much chemistry and plasticization that there’s neither smell nor taste of soy. I’ve fought rodents for many decades, and they’ve chewed through every kind of wire I’ve had, across a century’s worth of vehicles. The problem with wiring is that it’s just the right size and physical resistance to help rodents wear down their very fast-growing teeth.

Thanks for educating me! I never knew that...

No worries. I completely agree! I really don’t think it was an animal because over the past 6 months or so it has been acting up when I start it. Most of the time fine but sometimes I would have to try and start it multiple times with that red lightning bolt flashing. We will find out Wednesday!

If you’re awake right now and have a dark view of the northern sky, there’s a pretty spectacular auroral show going on…visible as far south as Tucson, AZ. My good camera is taking some photos. This is from my phone.

Yeah, it’s been going bananas all night.

The strongest I’ve ever seen, and plainly visible to the naked eye.
