What is one feature you hope Scout will include that has not yet been shown?

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
I think this was either not available or an option we didn't go for when we got our Volvo, but their remote start app just keeps the last used temperature, so in the winter/summer we need to remember to blast the air on whichever direction before shutting off. Would love the ability to adjust via the app!

That should be table stakes for an app. The Tesla app lets you choose temp, defrost, fan speed, plus steering wheel and seat heaters.

That or even if app tapped the weather app on your phone and had a preset warm/cold setting based on outside temp, or just an automatic 70 degrees either way to condition then you could raise or lower a bit once in the vehicle

"If its under 40 degrees turn the defroster on"

The best way is if it didn’t need a phone, just /any/ interaction to kick off the defrost and climate settings.

I hit the lock button on my key, or I open a door, or whatever - the car just knows it’s ready to be used and it sets the climate to whatever was last set, and defrosts if needed (which is purely based off of current temp and humidify).

Like… why do I have to think about climate at all? Why do I need an app on my phone? I don’t want to fiddle around at 7am trying to determine if I want 21c or 20c … just have the car do something reasonable automatically.

This would probably circle us back to the phone, or at least some in depth programming via the screen, but it would be cool if you could set some advanced routines.

Weather: Sunny
Temperature: 76
Location: Driveway
Start Vehicle -> Open Windows

Weather: Rain
Temperature: 81
Location: Garage
Start Vehicle -> Turn of Defogger -> No Wipers

So with every EV I've used (Tesla and Volvo), as soon as you open the door it will engage the HVAC based on the last settings for that driver (Tesla will keep track of driver profiles and tied to phone key or keyfob and will activate the seating, mirror, infotainment, and HVAC settings of that driver - maybe others do this) It will not change the settings based on the weather. But if you've already opened the door, it is trivial to lean in and push the defrost button (and Hold/Keep button) when grabbing your scraper.

Alternatively, you can just push the defrost button on your phone before you put your boots and gloves on and the car has a head start as you are walking out to it.

You would think. The BMW app does not allow temp or seat heating adjustment. You can just set a timer or turn on the climate with a button. But, it defaults to your last setting. I hope they update it soon.

Good point. I meant it should be table stakes for a clean sheet design from a non-legacy manufacturer. I am looking into an Equinox EV for my son and I am reading some troubling things about their app. Seems they tried to cobble together stuff from the old OnStar network and an app that is designed for ICEs. It's also stupidly expensive ($150/yr IIRC).

$150/ year to use the App.? NOPE.

You get 8 years of on star with purchase of new GM EV. The app works well. You can setup the heated seats and steering wheel to be activated when you activate climate in the app. To add heated seats and wheel to turn on remotely you must navigate through the vehicle’s infotainment system settings to enable this. The vehicle will heat or cool to the desired temp once you activate climate in the app. You can adjust the temp in the app.

I will say GMs app layout can be funky but the features are good.

Thanks for the info! Didn't realize they give you that long for a trial. I just saw where "remote start" required a $15/month Onstar subscription.

This may be the case if purchasing used. We got a new 2026 and after the trial of the full fledged on star expired we still have app access and remote starting capability that appears to run for 8 years based on the window sticker. Only thing is we got pandora added to the car with the latest updates but that does require a higher on star data subscription…

I don’t know about per year as I pay a little over $40 a month for my OnStar +15 for my cars data plan however, the car should come with a minimum of three years for the EV connection stuff to the app that you don’t have to pay for

Glad you all are here! I'm hoping to get a leftover '26 model later this year when the '27s come out so it will be a new vehicle purchase. A close family friend is a Chevy salesperson so hopefully he can bundle in as much extra stuff as possible. I also hope they have some incentives to clear out the older models...

stay away from the 5.3 and the 6.2...

FWIW, the Hyundai EV's (at least the ones I've been in) all feature an on/off button. Which means opening/closing the door won't turn anything on.

But the app does allow you to have multiple presets for different climate remote start settings. So I have one for winter, one for summer, etc. And those also allow you to do things like turn on/off seat heaters, steering wheel heater, etc.

My Hyundai Tucson (2022) doesn't have that, but it does have key based remote start. And that always defaults to 70f, no matter what. Which works well enough for its purposes.
