What is one feature you hope Scout will include that has not yet been shown?

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
When I get in my ICE car in cold/icy weather I can start the defroster and then get out and scrape ice or snow off the car while the windows defrost and the car warms up, engine running. Great.

In my electric as soon as my butt lifts off the seat the car turns off along with the defroster. My defroster has a butt-controlled deactivation feature.

There is probably a way to keep it on, and maybe some fancy way to “schedule” to warm the car before I get in, but I’m a lazy person who doesn’t like complexity.

So my feature request would be that the scout does not require a butt for defrosting.
Given the On/off button on the wheel I don’t think that’s a concern, but a remote start generally will take care of of that anyway, but we’ve also seen a mock up of the app, with climate settings including preheating the steering wheel

Perfect example of why I want an on/off button, so I can say when I want the car on or off and not rely on some algorithm deciding for me.

This must be challenging.

Does your EV have a 'HOLD' feature for the Climate Control?
B/C all you need to do is tap HOLD if it does.
Takes your butt entirely out of the equation.

Also, scheduling or pre-conditioning in advance is usually one or two taps in an app for most EV manufacturers.
And since we have seen some U/I & feature similarities to Rivian, and since Scout will take advantage of their JV and Rivian's Zonal Architecture, here's how the Rivian app looks...

You tap the FAN icon from the home screen to precondition the cabin 💥

I can’t wait till I can do that. This morning I was out in the freezing garage to open it and turn on the Jeep to warm up. I’m tired of that.

I love remote start - we use it most of the winter...
Remote start is useful, but I just never think to use it. I just get in my car and go. Cold never bothered me.

I think I just want the defrost button to defrost the front and back windows and maybe side mirrors, and to have that stay on for 30 minutes. That way I can shovel or scrape while that’s running.

I’m not sure why side-mirror, back and front windows are independent buttons. Maybe it’s a historical artifact, or maybe some people want to clear their rear windows only and drive in reverse everywhere.

Remote start on an EV is kind of pointless - but remote climate control might be expected. Honestly - I am used to having an obscured view on the rear window (with my truck especially)- really not necessary to run a rear wiper often. Use rear camera a LOT more often than the rear view mirror. Side view mirrors are important though.

I could joke - rear mirror is generally only important when it detects those annoying flashing lights trying to get me to pull over. Not often, but last time it happened, the cop accused me of trying to run. He did not put on his siren - and apparently I did not see his lights for 2 miles. He thought I was running, I had my cruise control set on the speed limit. Apparently I set it on that speed right before I went past his speed trap on the edge of town, and he was was pointed in the opposite direction.

Isn’t it preconditioning the battery in an EV as opposed to remote start?

In an EV with “remote start” it’s just climate, my user manual in my bolt calls it remote start, since my car has on/off button but the MyChevrolet app updated a few months ago from “start” to “climate”
