What is one feature you hope Scout will include that has not yet been shown?

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scoutsā„¢. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
Early on I begged and pleaded but seem to recall Jamie saying they leak in time so unlikely. Devastated is putting it mildly 🤣
Seems someone being Big J doesn't like the past, and would rather leave the revolutionary designs and engineering in the past and not make them better. It's okay, we now know where Big J stands.

It was more of a throw back thing but they were very effective at pulling air into the cabin and when raining it didn’t let much in from what I recall

Sorry, realized maybe you weren’t joking. No removable top. The size of the vehicle makes it too heavy for average people to get it off without damaging it. The cabana top is a decent compromise and it is a HUGE opening.
Hopefully it’s a better system than Jeep has. I really want an open top but I am nervous about the noise and leakage.

Welcome to the forum!

Yeah thats a tough one. My daily driver is a a 21 year old car with a sun roof that has luckily never leaked and still works great.

I worry about the Cabana Roof long term though. That is a lot of moving parts. But if you trade your car in every 5-6 years there is a good chance youll avoid major repairs with the roof down the road. Usually a decade or two of debris gets into the tracks and causes them to get stuck or plug the drain tubes.

If you are keeping it for a LONG time, the solid roof is probably the way to go if you want to avoid potential headaches..

it’s the 21 century… if engineers can make the wing window more secure and sealed. Then might as well fire every engineer. And put them back into school and give them a few beers to get their creative juices flowing.
I’m in for starting back on the wing window. @Jamie@ScoutMotors - @THil08 and I want to petition to bring back the wing window

I have been thinking a lot about the Terra tailgate. The load floor on the bed will be pretty high. I hope they manage to integrate a step into the tailgate to make getting things in and out easier.
There have been some requests for integrated bumper steps like many pickups have. But, the current Terra prototypes do not show any tailgate or bumper steps. Maybe something from the reveal J Alynn?

Nothing was ever noted at reveal other than to say they were still refining. Aesthetically I despise those bumper steps but more majority of pick up users and someone who works around others with pick ups I think it is a great functional addition. I’d like to see it be a bumper option myself so if people want it it’s a reasonable add and those that don’t can do without. It just looks so clean without t but again-pick ups are more about work than looks 🤣

I posted this picture on my Nats thread. The Terra has a Step on the side and a handle by the back window. Just in case anyone on this thread hasn’t seen that.

I do love those features for accessing things quickly in the bed or on the roof, but if I add a camper shell I won’t be able to access things in the bed with those anymore.

I can understand why people may not like integrated tailgate steps, but I would definitely spend the money on it if it was an option. (Not everything we suggest will be standard)

Bumper steps are a little too small if it’s 3am and you are trying to go pee for the third time. Having a step or two in the center would be safer and more convenient if you are camping out of it. Also saves space so you don’t have to carry a little step ladder with you everywhere.

It is gorgeous. I’m getting a traveler so no skin in the game for me on the Terra other than to say as a designer, integrated steps look terrible but serve a very specific function for accessing pick up beds more efficiently. I get the need. I’d rather see a swing out integrated step below in the center that activates with a foot sweep like many SUV hatches have, but that adds cost, complication and probably fights with the spare tire space so probably tough.
Makes me wonder though-thinking about the laptop tray in the dash and thinking about the EV configuration-could there be a slide out rear load ramp (like U-haul trucks have?). Lot less moving parts under the pick up bed so maybe that could be an added accessory as well. Not sure if it could be integrated but might be nice if heavy duty enough. Even it just a pair of tire ramp rails (not sure of technical name) that could slide and store for loading mowers, smaller 4-wheelers, etc…

Just having a bit a fun. I agree with you on the current integrated steps solutions. Most ruin the landscape. However, some of those multifunction tailgates have real promise. They help you get in & out, hold your wood stock your cutting, etc..... Then fold up and look like a standard tailgate.

I'm a Tavel(er)ing man as well.

Agree. I cringe wondering what they cost when they fail and/or what happens when one function breaks-do the others still work? They do add a ton of versatility based on various truck uses-but I fear all the extra parts that can break. At my age-anything to make it easier to get up and into a truck bed is welcomed 🤣

Everything these days costs a fortune when/if it fails. 😹

There are quite few out in the wild these days. So we might be able find some good reliability data out there on them.
