What is one feature you hope Scout will include that has not yet been shown?

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
That may just be a Rivian thing because even basic things like adjusting mirrors or AC vents depends on the touch screen. There are VERY few buttons on those things. But the software architecture supports it so it should be possible for Scout to integrate it however they want.
When I read this I had to go look this up, I found it hard to believe. This seems so crazy. Well does it at least save the vent settings for each driver?

It’s a common complaint with Rivian reviews. If you’ve never had one it really does seem very bizarre.

Yes, there are driver profiles, and Rivian added AC vent presets (2 each) to be saved to each drivers profile in an update.

Apparently when you set your phone on the center console it knows which person is driving and adjusts them for you.

This guy discusses it around the 16:15 mark

Physical would be better unless it was an icon that pops up when you are like 50’ from your garage. And know you programmed home location
Yes if it has to be on screen I would expect options to show up automatically when in range.
Need three buttons. Two garages and a gate. If it is digital there should be more to be enabled possibly at different locations such as work or second home.

Definitely.

Rivians are awesome but the lack of buttons, knobs, and switches for basic functions just seems unnecessary.
I don't mind touchscreens for setting things up and mapping. But, digging through menus on a touchscreen while your driving is just bad. Give me the readily available knobs and buttons. Thank very much!

It's actually not that big of a deal at all - and it was implemented quite well by Rivian. It would seem that the vents are way more adjustable in my R1T than in any other truck I have owned too... This is just another example of something that people that haven't tried it (or love to hate on something) glom onto IMHO.

To move a vent, I literally hit the climate button on the bottom left of my screen, then move any vent in any direction with my finger... It's really no different than finding a tactile button and moving it around. That's not to say I don't understand why people want physical buttons. Scout is giving us a big screen + buttons and lots of good SW (from what we have seen and expect with Rivian Zonal Architecture). Believe me, in an EV you want to have good SW and great implementations of it. You will be quite happy with it. There's no digging for common functionality, so don't be alarmed!

Whew. I’m just so used to having basic features in my 2013 I don’t even know what to expect. I feel like I’m going from a flip phone to an iPhone!

I'd love true modern matrix headlights (the megapixel type). I'm older and drive on dark country roads every day. Being able to basically keep the brights on while they create a dark hole for the oncoming car so they don't get blinded would be a huge safety plus. There's a good pair in Audi's (VW's) part bin, but I don't know if they have that in mind.
My R1S has this and (a) I love it from a safety and ease of use perspective, and (b) it looks REALLY cool when it envelopes oncoming vehicles in a “dark hole” as Albal describes! I hear those who say they are incredibly expensive. I can only imagine. But SO very cool.

To move a vent, I merely move the vent. Both the vents I want to move are closer than the screen, it’s easier to precisely control (I find precision on a touchscreen to be almost impossible), there’s no motor/system to break, and I don’t have to push a button first. And the desired position of my vents depends on the day, the weather, the position of the Sun and my mood, so the ability to have presets is of no value to me. It’s all downside, no upside for me.

Well, like I said, I can see why people want the little flippy doo-dads on their vents to control them, and I think Scout is smart to enable more tactile controls with the nice U/I... I'm just clarifying that ain't nothing "buried" in a Rivian U/I and its pretty frickin easy to move vents around using the screen. Lots of this stuff just seems to get a little blown out of proportion IMHO

If you take a step back, if that’s one of the most common complaints about Rivians… that’s actually a good thing.

It’s a minor inconvenience and definitely beats having major reliability issues or constant software issues.

Some people are just more anxious when they drive so the idea of having to take your eyes off the road and mess with the screen to change something it seems unnecessary and concerning.

I’m sure we could all get used it, but it’s not something I would personally choose for myself.
