What is one feature you hope Scout will include that has not yet been shown?

Rear wheel steering would be awesome. Currently have it on my Sierra Ev and it makes maneuvering the truck so much easier. Also would be a big benefit while off-roading in a large truck.

Rear wheel steering would be great, though I wonder if Scout could offer it on the base ($60k) model? Maybe as an option or part of an upgrade package or on a higher trim level if they end up going that route? There's still a lot more we'll all be finding out as Scout gets closer to production.
I am not saying its impossible, but they would essentially need a front solid axle in the back to achieve this since there would need to be knuckles and steering linkage. You cant do that with a solid rear axle. Its a lot easier to add it to IRS rigs like the Hummers, Lightnings, and Sierras. And if Scout were going that far I would expect them to have a solid axle up front too :cool:

Dig into the Bollinger story and you will find all kinds of amazingly bad stuff... But that is what Google is for. The truck itself "looked" cool (sort of like something that Daniel Craig would drive while fox hunting on a private estate while filming a new Bond movie). But it was bare bones, low range, no real safety features, never remember seeing any SW, probably drove terribly AND had a price tag of $125K. It wasn't happening.
Nailed it. Bond looks and full size 2x’s. Those were literally the only two features I liked🤣. Diamond plate is passé and the switches everywhere were overkill.

Mazda or Honda did this in the early 80s I think, but is was not true 4 wheel steering, but instead, changed the chamber of the rear wheels at slow speeds. I drove one at a demo and it did work changing the turning radius by about 20%. Not sure this would be useful for 4 Wheeing though.

I really don’t have a preference as to which way they go. My only request is do not make it like the steering in the Grenadier. They say that steering is made for over landing and I believe it. Driving it on the street is another thing all together and it’s awful. As long as it’s not like that vehicle I’m happy.

I haven’t driven a Grenadier but I was eyeing them until Scout announced last year.

When you say “made for overlanding” what do you mean? I don’t mind heavier steering feel as long as the rack can handle the weight while off-roading (looking at you, Bronco steering racks).

This is the only way I know how to explain it. So I’m used to Wrangler steering. With that play in the center. The Grenadier has that. However, you know how after you turn a steering wheel you let go and the wheel goes back to center on its own. Well the Grenadier doesn’t do that. When I went to test drive it the salesman said we are going to go slow first in town before we get on the highway so you can get used to the steering.

Let’s say you turn to the right in the Grenadier and take your hand off the wheel you will just keep going to the right. The steering wheel does not go back to center. So you have to turn the wheel whichever direction you want to turn and then turn the wheel back to center to go straight again.

Parking it was not fun at all and backing in was like a 12 point turn for me and I felt my shoulder do something it shouldn’t and my shoulder hurt for 2 days after driving it. My husband kept saying I know you love it but…

Oh and the salesman said the steering was great in Palm Springs when they were over landing over rocks. Well I’m not doing that. This will be my daily driver. So for that and other reasons the Grenadier was out even tho I love the way the darn thing looks. And it has safari windows, I loved those safari windows!

Interesting…I would think return to center is basically a software thing at this point for anyone using an electric rack.

Well it doesn’t do it and it appears to be a feature not a bug. There’s some other things too like no gauge cluster, etc that for the price it doesn’t make sense. And don’t get me started on the gas mileage on a 7700 pound vehicle.

I just have always loved old Land Rovers and it’s got the look that’s for sure.

Great idea. Like you said, that small of an array would be a trickle charge, but if you're out on an extended camping trip and the truck is just sitting there anyway, it would be nice to be able to slowly add some charge back to the battery.

It sounds like the main issue is with the recirculating ball steering and how it's set up.

Well whatever the reason it’s not great to steer and park. And I still get alerts from CarGurus and I see so many 24s popping up. And they are offering low finance rates and lowered the lease from $999 a month to $849 a month. I get the impression they aren’t selling.
 
I'm presuming Scouts will have heat pump cabin heating, but has this been stated somewhere?
My KIA PHEV uses the ICE coolant for heat (no heat pump) so my milage drops to about 62 mpg in the winter vs 74 mpg during the summer, even using some air conditioning.

I don’t remember seeing that confirmed anywhere. And the question I have is for the Harvester will it use the heat from the engine to help heat the cabin? It’s going to put off heat, it’s an engine.

Which is how my Sportage is heated so in the winter it's hard to just run in EV mode, and thus, lower milage. There will be plenty of times I'd prefer to run EV and not use the ICE
