We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. I took this picture today. I should have taken it completely from the side. The Comanche is mine. The behemoth behind it is a GMC 2500. Both are stock height. I know the Jeep is a compact truck, but wow what a difference. Look how much taller the grill is as well as the tires. The tires on the GMC are almost as big as my entire wheel well.
Nice Comanche. It’s crazy how big trucks are now.
And the bed is the same size and far more useful in the Comanche (by nature of being easier to load and unload). And it has better than half the payload capacity for a truck that's 54% of the volume.
I wish trucks these days were the same size as the Comanche or Toyota pickup.
Nice Comanche! My experience has been it is not easy to find one in the condition that yours appears to be in. I love it. Congratulations.
Thank you! No rust was key. I’m the second owner. I even have the window sticker. The paint is getting tired, so that will have to be addressed sometime. But, it’s had a lot of work done and it’s been very fun.
Completely agree. I hauled a recliner, another large living room style arm chair and an ottoman with the tailgate closed earlier that morning. No, problem and easy to get in and out. That’s probably more than that GMC has ever had in the bed. Sorry, that was a low blow.
At least give consumers the option. The maverick comes close, but the bed is small. I do hope that Slate finds success. Modern tacomas, Colorados, canyons, are all the size of 1990s full size trucks. I have used that Comanche so many times for hauling. It’s so easy to maneuver and actually use the bed. No, it doesn’t seat 6 nor can it tow 16,000lbs., but it doesn’t need to.
We have a Maverick it could use another foot and a half in the bed department. Otherwise a great truck.
I’ve spouted this a dozen times already, but if I could buy the Comanche or any 1990s-sized pickup with a full-sized bed and a single-sized cab in a BEV configuration, I would do so in a heartbeat. I understand why the modern take on the pickup has been to turn it into a gender-affirming, but less-useful minivan...yes, I own one. But I’ve been making real use of my pickups as pickups for decades and the shrinking and raising of the bed is just so frustrating.
All of this is to say, that’s a beautiful Comanche. Don’t ever let it go.
If the bed of the R1T was about a foot longer and the rear window rolled down, it would be near perfect!
Your Comanche is sweet, but we also need to remember that a 2500 is typically a work truck & tow vehicle. Some use cases for the 2500 would obviously be tough or impossible for a Comanche to accommodate (like HD towing). So, comes down to the right tool for the job. I owned a 2500 as a daily driver (once) when my towing needs increased... ONCE was enough!

This is really helpful before actually seeing & sitting in one. But, if I may suggest, it’d be great if the Traveler was the same color in every pic for reference and maybe a more distinct outline of the smaller vehicle. My wife owns a flex & that photo is helpful in changing her mind.
I was worried about size too but seeing them in person, yes they are big, but not oh my goodness that’s giant and I can’t drive that big.
I posted a bunch of pictures of myself standing next to the Traveler and measurements I took with my iPhone in my Nats thread. I’m 5’7” for reference.
What’s your feeling after seeing them in person - do they feel smaller, bigger, or the same size as a Tahoe? I’m most concerned with the width because it’s such a hinderance on overgrown trails.
EDIT: It concerns me to think the Traveler is only 1 inch skinnier than a Tahoe (mirrors folded in). Did it FEEL any skinnier than a Tahoe? I’m grasping at straws here, can you give me anything? Or did it still feel and look like one of these bloated SUVs?
