R2 Launch Watch

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
Early on, some of us were hopeful that SM would target the size range of the legacy Scout II.
Length: 166.2"
Width: 70.0"
Height: 67.0"
Wheelbase: 100.0"
Clearance: 9.2"

The growing popularity of the Japanese Kei trucks filling niche markets plus at least 4 new startup manufacturers of lower priced smaller-lighter vehicles reflects a growing market demand that is visible to some entrepreneurs (Slate, Telo, Reo, Alpha) ... Not to mention efforts underway at Ford, Toyota (Stout), & Ram.

My loyalty to Scouts is now 62 years deep (witness the 3 in my garage), but as I grow older and maybe wiser my needs are changing.
Well, it’s great to see you here again, young man! 🤩

A couple that picked up their R2 posted a picture and this is the screen. Now I think this is cute.

Okay so how many days after launch did you place your reservation and have you decided on a trim?

I placed it March 8, so ~24 hours after reservations went live.

If I end up going to fulfillment, I'll go with the launch package (Performance) since I want the Autonomy+ and tow package included.

The * is "Order timelines are estimates only and subject to change."

This puts it at ~60k for a smaller and less offroad capable vehicle than the Scout btw. Just since this is a recurring topic on these forums ;)
I got Nov-Dec 2026, and I made my reservation March 2026! Probably helps that I indicated Launch Edition. It's actually about 6 months earlier than I think would be ideal, so we'll see how it plays out. I just didn't expect to be that early with my late reservation.

Are you planning on buying/leasing one?

I was really worried that I'd get called over the summer (I've said it before but we had a few unexpected expenses which drained the car fund) and have to pass on it.

I'm like 30 minutes from a Rivian Space, so I'm sure that bumped me up a bit earlier (but still behind most current owners, lease people, day 1 res)

I'm in the Denver area, so we have several Rivian showrooms and service centers around. But I still haven't been able to get access to a demo drive slot! Quite annoyed about that.

They must have a regional strategy of some sort. I have a delivery center within 5 miles of my home and ordered within a minute or two after orders went live. My delivery window is December - January. I'd prefer a Scout so the timeline doesn't bother me. Just thought I'd share a data point.

I am seeing so many posts online with people very confused as to why their delivery window is what it is based on when they made their reservation.

Does anyone know what Rivian is requiring for a deposit to place an order?
