Never thought about grocery stores for potty breaks. Makes sense-just never gave that a thought as a route planning effort. In an emergency we’ve stopped at a store on occasion. For me fast food works but not my wife’s choice. But in and out and don’t even need to order food

Some fast food places you need a code to open the door though. We found that at a few fast food places in Ohio.

My favorite are Loves Truck Stops. I also need to check if those are in the states we will be going through.

Yeah at Chipotle of all places.

For the most part, we've found grocery stores to be the safest bet, and since we avoid interstates when possible for travel, they're easy to find.

Our pecking order is:

1. Target
2. Mall/Restaurant (latter only if we want to stop to eat)
3. Grocery Store
4. Rest Stop (like, actual rest stop not a gas station)
5. Jug

Target? Seriously? Every Target we've ever been in has horrible womens' restrooms (she takes pictures for me). The mens' aren't bad generally though. My wife would take the jug over Target until she develops the ability to hover.

Most are very clean and the preferred ones make fresh food on-site. Of course, this only works from 6am-10pm or so at most stores.

The one place getting to the bathroom quickly is necessary

Rest stops on I-95 are great. And if you’ve figured out how to get women to use a jug when traveling you are my hero and we need to talk offline

That's interesting because we've had the opposite experience, although we'll usually go a bit "out of the way" to hit one so maybe its just pure luck.


Grocery stores are hit or miss, I know doing the Philly->VB route I've talked about here the food lions are all over the place and not great!
