R2 Launch Watch

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

Here at the Rivian Miami Space to check it out. I’ll let yall know what I think.

Okay so I went and configured one. They have the special Launch Green that you can get and that’s $2000. I added every option they had and it took the price from a little under $58 to $64. And two of the colors aren’t available yet and you can only get a black interior.

I hope SM has more than one interior color choice at launch. That would be a dealbreaker for me if the only choice is black. I’ve been sitting in a black interior for 13 years. I’m done with all black.

Agreed. Would definitely be surprising to get only black for the interior based on the variations we've seen in the concepts.

I would tend to compare the launch of Scout with the launch of R1.

Keep in mind that for Rivian, R2 represents a more mass market variant that is purposefully going to drive volume, and address a larger market at the entry price point. Rivian benefits by keeping production simple b/c they can fulfill so many reservations with little assembly change. You will see more variation in the future with R2 coming, but for now, this is likely a business decision to expedite revenue recognition with easier and more efficient production measures.

R1 launch will be a much more close analog.

How many interior options were available with the R1 launch?

I configured a launch edition Catalina Cove with Coastal Cloud interior (not available until late 2026 but I am not sure my number will be up by then anyways) and it's only at $60,990 which includes the tow package and Autonomy+ (both included in launch edition)

Not bad!

Edit: I would probably also get the Front Sunshade, Cargo Cover, All Weather Mats and Portable Charger, but that all adds up to about $1000 and not a decision I'd need to make at order time I don't think.

3.

I may be mistaken, but at R1 Launch, option #3 was called "Ocean Coast" and was lighter than Lunar Rock. I believe it was also the 3rd trim that they fulfilled in terms of reservation configs. I was not interested in any light interior options based on my use of the truck doing truck things, so I was not impacted by any delays based on interior options.

If black is only choice after seeing these beautiful interiors thus far I’ll be really disappointed

Good call on the ocean coast, I forgot the name and just saw the graphic. Close enough, haha. It's been a number of years since my early R1S preorder.

I'd probably wait on real world reviews on a $65 screen protector. I'm not anticipating dropping it so I don't 100% see the value there.
I think the primary function is glare reduction, less fingerprints and easy cleaning.

I got one from T-Wraps out of the gate and it has been great (and less expensive): https://twraps.com/

Well this is interesting. I don’t know how I feel about it for Scout. I’m not leasing anything and I wouldn’t want my turn to keep getting skipped over in favor of someone whose lease was expiring.
