Off-topic stuff…

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
Yellow/orange is certainly an accent color they use and it's the logo, but my friend has a Gen 1 in the yellow they used to offer, and while it's not my tastes it's striking every time I see it (maybe once a year)
Yeah I remember that color. Reminds me too much of a school bus.

Just to recap.

No highlighter yellow.
No school bus yellow.
No carpet cleaning van yellow.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Be cool if Scout sold a nice earthy orange colored drink package. I’d consider buying one

I agree, the do currently have a MIIR cup on the supply shop, Rivians gear store is full of MIIR, and the 20oz with straw is offered in most of Rivians colors. So maybe scout will do a similar partnership thing as they get closer to launch. I’ll definitely keep supporting scout with merch purchases as long as they keep making nice (and useful) drops

Agree. I’m cautiously buying. That said I love my backpack-more than I ever thought I would. Makes the perfect laptop back and just enough room for sketching supplies

That’s fair, I would really love to see more useful merch, like a large tumbler/water bottle, or towing/recovery kit (I assume that will be offered at launch or soon after). Though I’m a sucker for hoodies and hats. Warm weather wear or a rain shell would be great offerings now, but that’s because I would use them all the time

I’m just trying to minimize merch spending to have more car cash

I apologize in advance if this is not the right place to post this thought, or it's inappropriate...

After reading the articles and watching the video about BYD last night I was left with a really 'sinking' feeling.
I don't understand what has happened to our country.
The US had so many 'firsts' in our past and now we seem ok ceding those achievements to others...
When I worked for Motorola we had over 100,000 employees worldwide and made over a billion annually - now Motorola is a mere shadow of itself. Is it the workforce; the leadership; politics; all of the above?
We seem to have changed from being the little engine that could...

I do need to say that I have very high hopes and faith that Scout will be part of the instrument of change in our story - so far they seem to be living up to it.

I agree with you. I see all these car companies abandoning new technology and going back to V8s. Where’s the cutting edge tech we all were so used to seeing. It’s like everything has stalled.

I too am very hopeful that Scout is moving in the right direction.

I have my feelings on this and much like yours it’s disappointing. I think certain industries have their claws in and money talks and those people don’t look beyond 8 years as greed seems to be the only motivating factor. We owe billions to China as it is, might as well give them our auto industry as well.
It is very sad and very troubling

A lot of times it’s because the naturally aspirated V8 is much simpler and more reliable than say a twin turbo 6 cylinder. I had the EcoBoost V6 in my Raptor and yeah it had great power, but man the turbos would sing! There are all sorts of issues with that motor if you dig into the interweb, with cam phasers being high on the list (I had just gotten a recall notice before I traded the truck in). Ram is having all sorts of issues with its inline Hurricane Six with turbos. Again, lots of power, but the tech behind it has been a mess. A good old V8 while maybe not as powerful as a turbo 6 just works better and easier. I’ll personally sacrifice a little hp or fuel economy for reliability.

My most basic, $2 understanding of it is greed overtaking the moral center of late-stage capitalism, comrade. This is not to say TIME TO COLLECTIVIZE because that is its own bullshit system (just ask my family… oh wait you can’t, they were murdered). I dig our regulated capitalism. It just seems to depend on waves. Depending on who’s in power and on what wave on western civ we’re in, we’re doing awesome things or we’re being a huge disappointment to ourselves. In the past 40 years-ish, we’ve done a few cool things with technology and medicine for sure, like we definitely don’t have net zero to show for it, but we sure the hell aren’t making it here because OH NOOOOO someone in the c-suite won’t have a third Lambo if there’s an R&D department or there’s funding for University Relations or a fricken factory or decent health benefits for employees that doesn’t have a $1000 deductible or a $100 copay for office visits, etc. 🔥😡🔥 Don’t get me started on what happens if you get seriously ill, pregnant, or go through a major life event such as a divorce, but I digress.

Seeing stuff like the salalry ranges and bennies that Scout offers gives me some hope (I’m not looking for myself because I can’t work anymore, but I have some unemployed pals who I want to ideally someday give me free shit).
