From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Bingo. I have had a Volvo 1986 740 wagon and a 1998 V90 (old 960) wagon. Both tanks. My wife had a 2019 XC90...terrible quality.
We have a 2024 XC90 and its been great with only a few minor issues that were covered by warranty (2nd row passenger window rattled because it wasn't seated properly, quick fix)
My only complaint is really with the software, and while their latest upgrade is a HUGE improvement, it somehow made some of the core features worse.

Vehicles have been disposable since the US government did Cash4Clunkers. but Atleast most companies still make reliable vehicles that last when maintained.
China has super disposable vehicles. We'll start to see how long the EVs last over there shortly in the next few years.

I think we'll see a much more honest opinion of Chinese vehicles in general from places like Europe and Australia than we will from media in China.
They haven't been shy about their criticism of American vehicles over the years, so I suspect you're correct.
The smart ones should hybridize and be the first to do so to get a leg up. And include delivery with 75 miles. No BS. Online comms and delivery to the door
That worked to our advantage on our pilot and we literally stole it out from someone who went to lunch and said they’d be back. Beat them to it by 5 minutes. Was weird having them glaring at us but was also rewarding finally hitting one of those BS deals
It’s weird. When we bought our Miata that happened. Only they gave us each numbers and whoever agreed first won. We won. It was not an ideal way to buy a car in the slightest. And yes that other couple staring at us was really uncomfortable.

The old 240 DL were the heart of Volvo. Super tank, super reliable. My friends mother hit a moose one late night in the back roads of Northern Sweden about 20 years ago.. It ran out from the trees right in front of her. She clipped it's legs and the body went into the windshield. She was luckily not seriously injured. Other than the shattered windshield, just a huge dent in the bumper and hood. She drove it like that for several months until she could repair the body. (Windshield was replaced immediately).
