Same for me. Home 2-3 days a week and 1/4 mile short of my wife’s office so she can slow roll and I’ll jump and tuck. You could always tell who the Rivian engineers were in town because they had “those different looking trucks” in their driveways. I’m assuming they got to take them home to test in the beginning. I’m assuming Scout will be doing something similar.
I just keep thinking when it’s my turn I’m taking it. If it’s early, it’s early. We have multiple cars and I work from home so if there’s issues I’m sure they will take care of it. I’m just super excited to get my Scout, as I’m sure you can all tell.
I realized the other day the last new car I picked out was my 2007 BMW 328i. The Jeep my husband picked out and I took it from him. Ha! I’m ready for a new car that’s all me.
Wtf I added the link and it was showing for me earlier.Link?
Sure you didWtf I added the link and it was showing for me earlier.

I wonder if we’ll have to have a paid membership to get a cheaper rate. This annoys me, and I don’t even drive EV yet.
I volunteer to be a Missouri tester. Quiet drives in the country, around town, and to church. And maybe a little bushwhacking.I hope Scout is going to really beat on its test mules once they have pre-production capabilities. They really want to know which parts they need to have pre-order for repairs and which don’t need to be replaced very often. Do they need to have a bunch of CV boots/joints/shafts in stock? Do they need to have a million extra switches ordered? Will they have to have multiple sources of glass? Will their seat fabrics tear in the heat/cold? Or will they bleed their dyes into peoples’ clothing on sweaty days?
Nobody knows, but they’ll want to know as much as possible as soon as possible.
I volunteer to be a desert southwest tester. I break things fairly regularly.
Interesting. The dealers should team up. Maybe scout and Rivian could team up with Starbucks or food chain and install them there since they won’t have many “dealerships”/experience centersI wonder if we’ll have to have a paid membership to get a cheaper rate. No. Ford doesn't have a paid membership for charging.I wonder if we’ll have to have a paid membership to get a cheaper rate. This annoys me, and I don’t even drive EV yet.
I will take every opportunity to poop at a car dealership that I can.No. Ford doesn't have a paid membership for charging.
And paid memberships of other networks don't recognize the vehicle if you plug in and charge directly without using the networks' app.
As a practical note: Nobody chooses to stop at a dealer to charge unless there's no other option. When was the last time you had a pleasant experience at a dealership? How walkable was the area? How many restaurants were nearby?

Good news for the BEV market. Let's hope the US can keep up. Norway BEV are at 90% of the market.
Electric vehicles reach tipping point in China, surge to 51% market share

As a nation, we have 285M cars on the road in operation today. Each year, there are 15-16M new cars sold in the US, while 12M exit the road permanently. Since the vast majority (>99%) of the cars permanently exiting operation are gas-powered, we actually only have to get to 4M new EV sales per year nationally before the number of gas cars begins its inexorable decline. That's because 16M - 12M cars = 4M. Once EVs surpass that number, there will be fewer gas cars added to the roads than there are leaving.
Nationwide, that’ll happen as early as 2029, despite new EV sales only being 30% in that year.
Thank you for the additional information. We briefly discussed this before.
The tipping point for a market’s replacement of ICEs with EVs is not when there are 50% of BEVs sold in the time period of interest. It’s when there are more EVs sold than the difference between new vehicles sold and old vehicles retired—because most vehicles that are retired are ICEs. That tipping point is around 30% for the US. I don’t know the number of old vehicles being retired in China, but I bet it’s a similar ratio.
For the US, the tipping point year will be around 2029.
