We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

    Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. What we all forget sometimes is that this is all new territory with electric cars. Older electric cars used first-generation battery technology, different battery chemistries, and battery temperature management (packaging). Add in continued software improvements, better battery management, better charging practices and on and on and things will continue to improve. It is technology at the end of the day, and given all the battery-powered devices in our lives, things will only get better.

I just got a new company car - Audi Q6 eTron quattro, which is built on the newer VW Group PPE platform shared with the Porsche Macan and other vehicles. I'll start a separate thread on my experiences living with it, but so far, so good.
Wow! That PPE platform is pretty nice. Look forward to hearing all the gory details. Pics would be nice too!

Their model is out-of-date and I’m glad I don’t have to interact with them anymore. I’ve even decided not to bother with a warranty repair at the dealer and will just do it myself. I save so much not going to the dealer two or three times a year already, so spending a bit to replace a part myself is worth not having to wonder how I’m being scammed.

I’m so spoiled with my lifetime MOPAR warranty. I don’t worry about what they tell me because I only pay my $100 deductible unless it’s a wearable. I don’t want to go back to worrying about repair costs.

I totally get that.

I hope Scout’s reliability is very high and that they’ve studied and learned from both the successful and unsuccessful launches of the many EVs out there. And I hope they have some good data analysts on staff to understand when data are showing survivorship biases vs real actionable data.

Nope. Once you sell it it’s done. We have to register it in our name for the warranty to stay in effect.

And I asked once what happens if the repair is more than the Jeep is worth. They send you a check for blue book, you get to keep the vehicle and the warranty is done.

The service department told me they have a guy with a Wrangler with 250,000 miles on it with that warranty and they just keep fixing it for his $100 deductible.

I have not had too many repairs actually but at 95,000 miles my heater was not working properly and I got a heater core, oil cooler and radiator installed at the dealership for my $100 deductible. That repair made the warranty worth it. I have gotten an oxygen sensor and thermostat fixed at over 100,000 miles. Same thing. $100. They will replace the engine and transmission as well and it would just be $100.

With Verizon’s outage today, I’m reading reports of people who were using their phone as a key being locked out of their vehicles… Yet another reason I refuse to have that single-point-of-failure for my vehicle.
Ford PAAK uses Bluetooth for communication. What brand of vehicles are we talking here.
 
I guess I hadn’t thought of that issue because I assumed it was some sort of direct communication like Bluetooth when near the vehicle. That’s what I get for assuming.

We have Apps. for our Ford & Lincoln vehicles that let you lock/unlock and start the vehicle for preconditioning from a distance that requires a cellular network. We also have Phone As A Key that uses bluetooth communication to unlock. So a Verizon outage would not stop us from entering our vehicle. Note: I don't use PAAK any longer, just the key fob.

I’m team key fob. Heck my Wrangler is a key key.
