Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
I know some will be offended for reasons I do not understand, but I see there are unique benefits of all configurations so I try to keep an open mind. I’ve got a foot in all camps.
I mean to add:

I have owned hybrids for years and years. I think they serve a purpose and it’s a good purpose. I hope people find the right vehicle for them and the Harvester will meet the needs of many people.

I do think there are a lot of myths about BEVs that aren’t true or their specific nugget of truth isn’t as widely applicable as many people believe.

All I can say is everyone has their own opinions, some people feel very strongly about things and express themselves accordingly. I’m on here for the camaraderie, love of Scout, and to hopefully get Scout to understand that pale/butter YELLOW is truly the best color. 😹

I hope everyone knows they have a place here. We can respectfully disagree on topics, but just know we are all here for the same end result. I want everyone to get the Scout they want, how they want it.

Yesterday was a good day for me. In the morning Cadillac announced their F1 drivers and their announcement video had one of my favorite actors. Keanu Reeves. He’s making a documentary about the team before it comes to the grid next year. Yay!! So now I’m a Cadillac fan, I need a team shirt!

I have seen posts that have attributed this statement to him (even if he didn’t say it, it’s still good). It’s something like I’m too old to argue. You say 2+2=5, you are right, have a nice day.

Next, Taylor and Travis got engaged. I know, but I’m a Swiftie. She said in the podcast the other day. Think of your energy as expensive, not everyone can afford it.

All that to say, I’m on here to have fun, share ideas, and scream YELLOW as much as I can. I hope everyone joins me in that, let’s share ideas, have fun and start screaming your color!!

My foot is entirely in the camp of I don’t see how I can afford a Scout upon release because of all that’s going on.

But if/when we can afford one, it’ll be BEV because I have my own preferences and experiences that make me confident the BEV Traveler would be a fantastic vehicle for us. And I can’t ever see myself going back to gas, especially since I now produce my own energy for local driving.
I am also fully in that camp as well. I try to stay positive and keep the hope alive that I’ll have the opportunity to see, drive, and own a Scout when they arrive - but unfortunately the math is not in my favor and I refuse to have a huge vehicle payment. I see a lot of drive here to add more and more to the launch vehicles which would clearly be awesome for those willing and able to splurge for all the things, but each added feature and option likely puts my dream farther and farther out of reach. It is what it is, but I do feel like these could easily end up being some very expensive units.

That’s why I hope they have multiple trim levels and a la carte options. So many vehicles have $30,000 to $40,000 swings between base models and top trim. Fine with me. Just keep that starting price so people can build the vehicle they can afford.

People too afraid to take the leap.
Can't be me. I would just rather be ready for what to come, Electric or Gas.

For the reason that history like to repeat itself, the first cars were Electric. But then they went away for a while and Gas took over, whats to say that won't happen again after the EV crazy phase is dead.

The first electric car was built in 1884 by Thomas Parker, then the Benz came out. And tore it to shreds. Then the second "mass" produced electric car came out by Flocken Elektrowagen in 1888. And that lasted up until the early 1900s with a whole bunch of companies spawning in. Then Ford came out with a more affordable car that ran on the earths urine aka oil thats naturally made and does require as much energy to produce. Then that took over the market. So who's to say that won't happen again?

knowing China wants to be fully renewable by 2050 ( I think I read) and other countries are following suit it’s just a matter of time. If we could get US big government off the oil teet we would see more progress. Big Oil has too many hands in everyone’s pockets and until someone breaks it or cuts it off it will continue to be a challenge

If we love our planet we should strive to not let that happen again.

Well the country was founded on oil. Maybe if someone wants they can time travel and tell Colonel Edwin L. Drake don't dig for oil man its bad for environment. And tell Rockefeller and JP Morgan as well. But also these were all men that have helped bail out the US from going bankrupt and being owned by china.

Yelo!

Who is to say what future tech might hold - not to mention that combustion and solar power are not exclusive. The human race used solar power to grow food and fuel for most of our recorded history. We just let plants do the work rather than trying to use electricity. If we could find a way to use plants to harvest solar power in a way we could cleanly and easily convert it to electricity - imagine the size of the solar farms we could have.

Just a non-science based wag. Imagine if we could come up with a source of biofuel that could be cleanly, efficiently, and environmentally converted to electricity with a fuel cell. Right now, we are dealing with lipo batteries at 200wh/kg - with some outliers maybe breaking 300. Eventually we hope solid state might push us up to 800. Diesel (or bio-diesel) is about 12000 wh/kg. But sure, it is all speculative fiction at this point. But so was an electric car that could do 0-60 in 3.5 seconds 100 years ago.
