With Birds Eye camera you’ll never need the tilts. They’re handy but just more moving parts to break. Also wondering if Scouts will offer automated park assist

I would say my Rivian birds eye camera is the least used of my cameras. The distortion of image stitching combined with a birds eye view makes depth perception a little odd for me. It's great if you want to see how straight or crooked you are when parking. LOL.

I have a Gen2 Rivian R1T at the present (until I get my Traveler!). To your point about the Gen 1 Scouts getting the updates for the Gen 2 Scouts, that's true assuming Scout follows Rivian's lead. It'll be Gen 3 Scouts where you have to watch out for our Gen 1 Scouts. That's how i's working for Rivian right now. Gen 1 Rivians get most updates but don't have some functionality because of hardware limitations on the Gen 1.

I would say my Rivian birds eye camera is the least used of my cameras. The distortion of image stitching combined with a birds eye view makes depth perception a little odd for me. It's great if you want to see how straight or crooked you are when parking. LOL.

It comes in really handy for when I'm backing into my garage. It helps me know when to cut the wheel so I don't hit my miter saw station I have to park REALLY close to. But yeah, it's particularly handy so I don't look like a fool parking all crooked in the parking lot.

I turned off the mirror auto tilt in reverse feature on the Silverado and never enabled it on the Lightning.

I rarely have a use for it and when I do want my side mirrors tilted, it's not at the angle guessed at by the manufacturers.

The split view of the side cameras on the Silverado has been far more helpful.

See I don’t think oh yay camera. I barely have a backup camera. I added a crappy aftermarket backup camera on the Jeep. They sell a bracket that attaches to the mount for the spare tire and it peeks out between the spokes of the wheel and I got a new stereo so I got CarPlay and the camera at the same time a few years ago.

I have to use my mirrors. I don’t have any alerts or blindspot warnings or anything.

So I think mirrors to figure out where I’m going.

I definitely wouldn't assume that Scout will be updating software at the same rate as Rivian just because the architecture is similar. I also wouldn't assume first-gen Scouts will have the hardware capable of running second-gen software. These aren't Rivians, despite the zonal architecture. Hopefully, being a software-defined vehicle, they build in a good bit of future-proofing.

I do not use the auto tilt in my Tesla as the backup camera is more than sufficient. That being said, Tesla let's you adjust the mirrors however you want and then it saves that position as the "reverse" position. Odd that Chevy doesn't let you save that tilt position as part of your profile?

Also, as far as being a Gen1 owner and SW updates, yes, I just got the latest release and the UI/UX now has some of the same R2 feels. Rivian has done really great work with their SW updates, but it was a progression for sure.

I can see Scout progressing slowly at first as well. Crawl, walk, run. Make sure everything is very stable. Although the pace of development has accelerated so dramatically in the last 12 months that new code will be far easier and faster to produce, so who knows? I recently told my dev team about an AI company that called actual code written by humans "artisanal code" LOL. A lot of developers jobs are rapidly changing to be more managerial over AI creation & AI code outputs.

Pre back up cameras I loved the tilt mirrors but I’ve just completely adapted to using cameras and general mirrors now. My side mirrors are as useful because they are set for optimum highway driving which isn’t ideal angle for seeing curb where/when I need to see it

If you were in a BMW, you were doing it properly I think. Pretty sure that's in the owner's manual where the section on operating turn signals was supposed to go.
