  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

    Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

    How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Unfortunately for those who want to complain about it, getting cars/tech/whatever in the hands of influencers is a big part of marketing in today's world. More and more people will head to youtube/wherever to see what their favorite website/personality says about the new game, new phone, new car, new whatever before they even consider buying. You can do all the research you want about #s and specs and customization, but seeing someone actually interact with the product is so much more helpful in the buying experience.

I get it, but i also hope they have people in the community get early models. Some of these people we see the Scouts blogs about and people from the forum. Really lean into the community aspect of it.

I get that but having seen what little interaction and work the influencers did at reveal I question their legitimacy. I’m sure it’s great for younger generation but at this price point I would think FB would be a better source for most of the Scout demographic 😂

Well my luck has finally run out.

Was running some errands on monday and my Crosstrek started making an awful grinding noise when braking. Couldn't hold out any longer. $1200 for new tires, brakes, oil change, and two TPMS sensors.

At least my reservation # hasn't been called yet!

That stinks. That’s my worry with the Wrangler. I really don’t want to have to buy new tires.

When I brought my car in for service at the dealership in January they told me I was on borrowed time with my brakes and tires would need to be done within the year. Was hoping to at least hold out on the tires but the mechanic I went to offered basically the same stuff as the dealer at half the price. I'd rather be safe on the road at this point knowing I'm still looking at a long wait for the R2 or Scout.

Yeah those are things you do t fool around with. Glad you found a cheaper price.

I’ll be on the verge of that u til the Scout rolls around as well and hoping I avoid it. I’ve done that twice in my life and hate giving away brand new rubber when trading in
And I’m running 33 inch DuraTracs. They are expensive. And if I switch tires to a cheaper one then I have to buy 5. I’ve been having the boys take us more places in their cars. I’m trying to take some miles off the Jeep.

That actually sounds like a decent price for all of that…

That’s a great price my tires alone were more than that when one of them finally failed
 
Yeah, I went in telling them that I didn't want to do my tires yet unless absolutely necessary because $ and when they came back with the number I was like, uuuh on second thought!


The dealership (who I was only going to because I had Subaru Care or whatever its called) wanted the same for just the tires (much nicer tires but I don't care that much at this point in my car's life) and wouldn't replace my TPMS sensors without getting the tires replaced!

Yeah back when I saw R2 in person it reminded me of the 2014 X3 we had at the time, just with a more spacious interior.

My loyalty to Scouts is now 62 years deep (witness the 3 in my garage), but as I grow older and maybe wiser my needs are changing.

The growing popularity of the Japanese Kei trucks filling niche markets plus at least 4 new startup manufacturers of lower priced smaller-lighter vehicles reflects a growing market demand that is visible to some entrepreneurs (Slate, Telo, Reo, Alpha) ... Not to mention efforts underway at Ford, Toyota (Stout), & Ram.

My loyalty to Scouts is now 62 years deep (witness the 3 in my garage), but as I grow older and maybe wiser my needs are changing.
The size of the Traveler is one of two major concerns with the vehicle (price being the second). I love everything about the new designs from an aesthetics standpoint, but I haven't seen them in person yet to truly appreciate how large they will feel. I parked next to a Tahoe yesterday and can't fathom having a vehicle than large. Even with 2 kids, I don't want it. I'm hoping the Scout feels smaller than the paper measurements indicate.

Hi! Having seen them a Tahoe is too big to compare it to in my honest opinion.

The new 4Runner is what I compare it to. The Scout is about 2 inches wider than the 4Runner and then throw a tire on the back. The 4Runner is 194 and the Scout is 190, so actually shorter than a 4Runner.

That comparison helped me because I wouldn’t think twice about driving a 4Runner. In fact it was on my short list until I saw the Scout.

And if you get it without the tire carrier it’s actually shorter than a 4Runner.

I’m thinking the design may make it “feel” smaller at first glance, but make no mistake it’s solidly in full-size territory. Personally, this actually excited me when I realized the Terra was nearly identical to the F150 in size because I currently use one of those.

That said, just comparing the sizes of the Terra to an Expedition and a VW Atlas it kinda sits between the two sizes. Surprisingly without the tire carrier it’s shorter in length than both! It’s narrower than an Expedition, but wider than an Atlas. It’s taller than both.

Plus my husband had an observation when he saw them. He said a lot of vehicles may not appear as wide because they have fender flares and different elevations in the hood until they get to their highest point in the middle.

The Traveler and Terra don’t have that. They are blocky. There’s no fender flares like on a Wrangler or a Bronco.

Scout won't like this and a lot of people here won't like this, but your loyalty is to International Scout, which no longer exists, and are under no enthusiast obligation to love Scout Motors Inc. Ultimately Scout Motors is an entirely new entity making cars that just so happen to use the IP/design language/branding of the Scouts you loved thanks to a very corporate series of M&A.

For me Scout Motors to International Scout is like the ID Buzz to my 1967 VW Bus. When you look at as literally a new version of the old its disappointing, however if you look at it as a 100% new vehicle that happens to include flair from a classic car you love, it's great.
