What one thing would you like to see changed from concept to production?

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

    Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

    How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

    Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

    So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
Thank you. I have a really hard time biting my tongue. The vehicle is constantly evolving. I would love to share some things with everyone.... But we can't give away all our secrets. :)

Visually what you are seeing in our concepts is 85% of what you will see in production (I believe this has been explained). But there is so much "behind the scenes" stuff going on that is going to make this vehicle stand tall to its competition.

Examples:
1) Built in light saber holder
2) Plutonium afterburner
3) Teleporting option.
4) Jetson's vehicle harmonics
Aha. So the real business model is plutonium distribution!

Side-note:

The Voyager spacecraft use multi-hundred watt radioisotope thermal generators. At initial build, each spacecraft had three RTGs and each RTG generated 157 watts of electrical power for about 470 watts per spacecraft. That would be reduced by half every 87.7 years. They’re still operating on these RTGs.

Modern RTGs for spacecraft are smaller and produce only about 125 Watts of electrical power. There’s only one left that hasn’t been assigned a mission (and who knows what’s going to happen to it with all the wild cancellations at NASA these days).

Plutonium is great for long-term energy generation, but we don’t want to use it in our vehicles. It’s not about safety. I’d put one in my back yard if I could. It’s just that solid state thermal-to-electrical is an inefficient process when you aren’t operating in space where the extreme temperatures allow much better conversion ratios.

And again you educate and surprise me with your knowledge

I once proposed a spacecraft mission. I didn’t get it funded, but didn’t really expect to. I had to play with a bunch of different power options. RTGs are great for outer solar system or rovers on Mars, but they’re not the kind of thing I could use on my proposed mission to the Moon. Batteries and solar panels were the best option for size, weight, and power.

Nah, it’s not an issue with clarity. The issue is people (including myself) want to know exactly what the plan is. But:

  • The Plan (TM) isn’t final, so telling us would be an exercise in frustration for everyone;
  • There are some proprietary things you can’t share;
  • There are costs to everything. Some of those costs are in dollars, some are in time, and some are in mental energy;
    • Sharing every detail is expensive in time and mental energy, and in the case of physical concept vehicles in dollars.
The fact that Scout Motors has allowed you and @Jamie@ScoutMotors to communicate with the community is a major bonus that I don’t think everyone in the new car community can reasonably expect to have access to. You’ve built a community here beyond reasonable expectations. Sharing every internal conversation would actually damage that because it would create a constantly shifting set of expectations and eventually a loss of trust.

We don’t need to know if you’re debating mostly-square, somewhat oval, or perfectly circular reflectors. Nor if your decision about the type of reflector is still not yet made—will it be plastic, aluminum, polycarbonate, etc? We don’t need to know. We might have opinions, but if we want those opinions to shape the vehicle, we need to polish up our CVs/Resumes and go get employed by Scout Motors and get paid to have those opinions.

And yet, you all still asked us to contribute to the Suggestion Box, which is a great way of allowing us to continue the conversation without committing to implementing any of those suggestions. I suspect you’ll actually take some of those to the design team, but I’m glad you haven’t told the community which ones—that would lead to massive division and distrust at a time when you need it the least.

In summary, in my opinion (worth what you paid for it): You all are doing a great job of interacting just about perfectly with the Scout Community.
Yes. What he said.

You say that as a joke, but then there is this little voice in the back of my mind that says "You know, other vendors are making really odd artificial noises for their EVs..."

Every time I hear the noises the EV cars make I think of the Jetson's car sound.

And if it was up to me this would be an option on the Scout's :)

In all seriousness I would LOVE it if I could play the Jetsons vehicle sound on an external speaker when I am cruising at low speeds.

Of course, the built in light saber holder must be part of the "Star Wars 50th Anniversary" trim that will come out with the launch. After all, 2027 is the 50th anniversary of Star Wars (Star Wars was released on May 25, 1977). Will it be anything like the Hyundai IONIQ 5 Disney100 Platinum Edition that came out last year? If so, we can look forward to:
  • The startup animation on the center console will be a title crawl, like in the movies.
  • The wheels will be custom with not-to-subtle hints of Star Wars?
  • Interior trim with rebel or alliance logos and appropriate colors (all white for the imperials, earth tone for the rebels).
  • The artificial sounds will be from the Star Wars space ships. But I still want the Jetsons sounds as an option!
Can we consider this an semi-official leak of a collaboration between Scout Motors and Disney? :LOL:

And if you are worried about customer interest, this is my backpack:

That backpack color would be a good seat color.

I’m not hard core Star Wars but I could get into that. They did the collab with Nissan -8 years ago??? And for imperial a touch of black and blood red but mainly white would be very nice. Maybe a Yoda green or b-fett blue gray for exteriors? Sand speeder is basically Tahitian red so that is good to go. And wheels would definitely have to play off ships or android components for sure

And they could do a white and black one like a Stormtrooper.
