What one thing would you like to see changed from concept to production?

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
As a current Hyundai Ioniq driver - @Jamie@ScoutMotors and anybody else at Scout Motors if you're listening - a rear wiper is such a must have that I shouldn't even have to say it. Not having one is literally the only thing I don't like about my Hyundai after 8 months of driving, and it's such a stupid oversight that it kind of makes me more angry as time goes on. It didn't even occur to me to check during my research and test drives, it would be like checking to make sure it had seatbelts. This might sound stupid, but for this kind of money, if there's no rear wiper I may have to reconsider. Might as well not put headlights on it.
I have yet to see an SUV that doesn’t have a wiper. Hyundai should have considered and my accord is raked enough it holds dirt and debris so would be nice but an SUV that is box shaped must have one

+1 on rubber flooring. Would also like to see a windowless roof. I don't need or want to see through the roof. At 6'2", I hate the loss of headroom that comes with glass on top - I'd rather have the 1.5" or even 0.25". For a truck that may be taken offroad and need a little flex, a huge lateral piece of glass seems bizarre. What happens if that twists? I believe they can make it not break, but I have to think that after a few years seems are going to pop and leak.
Also been pining for a solid roof, albeit for different reasons.

We get hail too often for me to risk a glass roof.

You did bring up something interesting though.

Chassis twist is pretty normal when a vehicle is flexed out, but these will have a massive rigid battery pack in between the frame rails so I would think that there will be very little movement under the cab. Maybe a little still on the front and rear.

I’m not super familiar with EV designs but would assume they are hard mounted as opposed to have giant bushings like body mounts.

Tow Hitch. I get why the concept wouldn't show it, but I fully expect a tow hitch as standard equipment especially when a $40K base 4Runner has one.
Especially when they tout a 5-10k pound towing capacity.
I hope they also include a trailer brake controller integrated into the system, or at least offer it as an option.

The only R1T that I know if that has attempted the Rubicon came away with some interesting creases in its body panels.

The Lightning is body-on-frame with the battery hard-mounted to the frame and the body mounted in the typical way.
But the R1T has a unique design.

It makes sense that it would come with one. I just wouldn’t use it, but the one time I actually needed it I would be glad I had it.
At minimum, they're great for hitch mounted bike racks. Next use case for me is 5x8 U-Haul trailers either enclosed or open. I tend to use those every now and then for big projects. The once in a blue moon use case would be towing one of our classics to a show/shop/etc.

A rear mounted tire carrier makes it difficult for the hitch to be used for bike racks.

I'd like to see interior rear cargo hatch lights to illuminate the the area behind the vehicle when loading or tailgating. I didn't see them on the concept so hoping they show up on the production vehicles.

I would agree but the Lexus GX’s I looked at Sunday had plastic bumper cover and it did t look like a pop off cover but I could be wrong. Needless to say it surprised me seeing it that way

Pretty sure it was commented at reveal that concepts didn’t have them but SM is exploring it
