What is one feature you hope Scout will include that has not yet been shown?

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
I have never heard of dimming side view mirrors, are they actually a thing? What vehicles have them? I would love this as a feature.
Our Tesla Model S and Model X has them - same tech as the auto-dimming rear view mirror. As @mrgold35 said they are nice, especially around here with some many people lifting their trucks and SUVs but never adjusting the aim of their headlights.

I haven't seen memory front driver's seat that also adjusts side mirrors. That features comes in handy for the wife and I (I'm 6'3" and she is 4'11"). Other features that would be nice would be:
- Homelink
- Heads up display
- Carplay
- 2nd row seats in the Traveler SUV that can recline a tiny bit (probably does, not 100% sure)
- the 1st and 2nd row bench seat option would have padded arm rest, cup holders, and storage in the fold down position
- optional roof rack would have 360 degree lights for offroad and camping
- hands free kick sensor for Front trunk (you can turn it on/off and need the fob near by to work)
- auto fold mirrors with defrost feature (very wide compared to my current MDX hybrid SUV)
- auto dim side and rear view mirrors
- camera rear view mirror option (if you have the vehicle load with supplies)
- 360 cameras with sentry mode with external storage option (if you want to record days of overland events)
- Eco, normal, sport, snow/sand/mud, offroad setting, and custom settings that changes hp/tq and regen braking/tq vectoring. Nice to have the option to use +/-400 hp/tq instead of the full 1000 tq for city driving duties.
- NO SCRIRPTION BASED FEATURES! I see other manufactures have subscription for simile things like remote start, remote door lock/unlock, vehicle tracking, handsfree driving, hp/tq power settings, etc...
- XM radio, don't always have good cell coverage out west
- Cabin cool feature for triple digit summer heat (similar to pet mode). I park all day in asphalt parking lot and the cabin temp can easily reach +120 degrees F with tinted windows and sunshade. Sometimes get a camera overheat warning for driver assist system mounted inside of top of the windshield.
This is a really good list...

and I am going to do that thing where people who own a certain kind of car say I want Scout Motors to be more like that brand..

Many of the items on this list are features on my Hyundai Ioniq 5 that I expect (Homelink, 2nd row seats recline a tiny bit, no subscription based features) or like a lot more than I expected (heads up display, eco/normal/sport/snow/custom modes, cabin cooling aka pet mode) or at features that I want (360 cameras / dash cam that saves recordings on collision, auto fold mirror).

I would add to this list: paddle shifter controlled regen level. Absolutely love this feature.

Camera rear view mirror seems cool, but I find I don't use it that often. But that and other ones like Carplay (also don't use as I use Android Auto), hands free kick sensor, and on and on, I'm ok with all those since they may spark joy for other customers.

All great suggestions. I’ll beckon again and note that 3 driver settings would be awesome-even if one of the extra toggles could be programmed as an activation switch. Having older children that drive makes it nice having a Mom, Dad and teen/child saved settings

I don't even know what a modern interpretation of a bench seat looks like, much less how power would be applied to it. Power sliding? Split rear seatbacks that have separate power reclining functions? I'd be fine with a mechanical lever for those items, so long as I get some heating and cooling/ventilation in the seat.

I have a 2015 F150 with a bench front. It’s just 3 separate seats slammed together. Center doesn’t move except to move the seat back up/down. Storage under the seat part, storage inside the seat back. Both driver/passenger seats have power slide and recline. I just imagine this is essentially how Scout’s will be. Though if the center could be moved forward and back that could be interesting.

You know, I was thinking the other day about a Food Network show. Just go with me here. It was a competition show and the judges didn’t know what they were intending to make. One contestant went up and said oh I’m so sorry I didn’t have time to put the nuts on top. The judge told her never do that again. I didn’t know that’s what you intended. It’s delicious but now all I can think about is how much better it would have been with the nuts.

We are all talking about the Scouts in very granular detail all the time. When we get details there will be things we go oh I wish they would have taken this suggestion or that suggestion. Whereas someone who discovers them after details are released may be going wow that’s amazing and have no idea what they are “missing”.

I’m very confident I will love the Traveler. I just have to ignore any “nuts” that don’t make it. 😹

While I'm sure Scout has the best and brightest working on their vehicles' designs, there's also something to be said for crowd-sourcing ideas from an eclectic group with very diverse backgrounds, so I suspect some of our little ideas, rants and ramblings have been improved upon and incorporated into the vehicles as they've been fine-tuning the design. We might be nuts, but we won't be ignored! Oh wait, we might not be the nuts you were talking about...

Agreed - and *please, please, please" no one hang nuts off the trailer hitch!

One thing that popped-up again for me, after seeing an IG post yesterday (link), is the steering wheel shape. And I found a few other discussions that have all since quieted, so figured I'd try & get some activity here.

The Squircle shape concerns me as someone who has only had fully circular wheels before & who routinely lets the wheel spin back to neutral with a loose grip. Seems to be the squircle would be bumpy. Also looks larger than I'm used to, but that could just be an optical illusion.

When sales finally start I’d like SM to send us all (or maybe just posting would be easier and cheaper) and tell us the ideas they did crowd source or were maybe on the fence and enough of us posted so they added it. With this unique consumer input style forum it would be nice to see a list and be able to tell your friends that idea ‘X’ was mine. Or at least lie to our friends. “Yeah-that harvester thing-that was MY idea”. Along with the lawn darts molded storage holder and the pony keg chilling unit in the frunk.
Electric ice cream maker that fills the frunk while you drive to your family reunion-mmmmm, hey kids-grab a spoon and tell uncle Clark not to climb in it this year.

Newer vehicles have notably fewer turns lock-to-lock, so hand-over-hand turning is generally a thing of the past. I've only got a flat-bottom wheel in one of my cars and it took about 30 seconds to get used to it. The nice part is being able to keep the steering wheel lower while not impacting your ability to get in and out of the car.

I'm assuming the steering wheel size is to help see the instrument panel a bit better, provide better leg room when driving, and improved visibility over the steering wheel. My current vehicle has an extra setting that moves the steering wheel up/in for easy entry in/out of the driver's seat (returns to normal with other memory seat functions like side mirrors and seat position).

I mean, even a normal u-turn will require some respin to get back to neutral - heck, a left or right turn through an intersection can too. Unless my 2014 Dodge Dart isn't considered "newer" anymore? Hahaha

Looking at one of the last images in the set (link), it seems like you could squeeze it in a bit & not impact the driver's display - but then that might impact what looks like scroll controls? Not sure if redesigning those would save much width - assuming they even could or should be.

I'm sure it won't be difficult to get used to - it's just one of those things that stand out when you can't get hands on it & you need to fill time with wishful thinking & speculation. LOL

Would agree on this and the flat bottom gives various statures the ability to move up and still have leg room

Ioniq 5 has a similar wheel shape and I don't even notice it.

What I do notice is the Ioniq is the only car I've ever driven where the steering wheel interferes with viewing the dash display. I don't know why, I'm guessing something about the electronic display, my height, and not spending time fiddling with the steering wheel position has left me with a speedometer that is inconvenient obscured by the steering wheel. So I look at the speed on the heads up display instead.
