VW/Audi lease program while waiting?

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

Rivian is offering a lease program for R2 reservations where you can temporarily lease an R1 until you take delivery of an R2–then it gets switched out and you return the R1 no questions asked. For those of us who have a lease ending before 2027 (or even a car that needs to be sold), could Scout work with VW/Audi to offer a similar program? As an alternative, I of course could just buy my car off the lease and drive it until the Scout arrives, but the other option would be a bit simpler and less money plunked down before 2027. Plus, Scout benefits from knowing people will be lined up perfectly to take delivery, whatever the timing. Thank you!

Doubt it.. Mainly because the dealers are not happy that scout is going direct to consumer instead of leveraging their dealer network.
I'm not sure dealers have anything to say. I don't think Audi/VW would do it anyway but the dealers will happily take the "lease" they get through this even if they're not happy with the SM concept. A "sale" is a "sale".

If they offer an Audi q6 like the one @Jamie@ScoutMotors got, I’d sign up!

Interesting idea for those that need another car between now and then. I’m good to hold mine til then but would be a good way to lock it in. I’d think they’d want a fairly solid deposit though so you don’t bail out when Scouts roll around. Might also convert more folks to BEV after getting a taste of the Audi BEV

I was really hoping I wouldn't have to change the wet belts on my F-150 diesel, but now have scheduled the $4K appointment for Dec 1st and I'll be good for another 100K miles or more... "Faith and Patience" I'm told from a certain PBY Scout enthusiast! :)

I'd jump on this in a heartbeat.

I'm closing in on the point of my current vehicle's life to where any bigger repair is a question of "is it time to say goodbye?" so a lease would definitely bridge the gap if needed, especially if it was structured to trade in when I take delivery.
