Tax credit removal

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
I was expecting it would get removed anyways. The only thing I'm weary of is if another administration comes in and introduces them again after I've purchased (this happened when I bought my Tesla in 2022) which would be very annoying. It currently says $50,000 with incentives for Traveler and $51,500 for Terra so I assume now it will be $57,500 and $59,000 with the credits gone. Only thing it might impact for me is the spec I end up getting. I'm hoping to not spend more than $70,000 if I can help it which might mean a couple of things I want may need to be sacrificed, time will tell.

I’m hoping I can stay around $65,000. At that price that would be the most we have ever spent on a vehicle.

I factored in the tax credit for my initial consideration. But if the 7500 is gone, that's a big decision factor for me
I cannot fault you for that.

Thats a significant amount of money for a majority of the country.

It sucks because they are in the price bracket of people that are affected a lot more by it than folks that are shopping for Rivians and Lucids.

Maybe we will get lucky and initial reservations will have a discount.

Also depending on how they package options and configurations you may be able to buy certain things you wanted and add them over time from a Scout Accessory Store or 3rd parties.

I’m really hoping that options are a la carte and you don’t have to buy expensive packages to get one or two things you want.

I hate stuff like that, I've used a configurator before where there was one additional thing I would have wanted but I could only get it in a package that cost over $6,000. Another thing on a similar topic, I also really hate when I pick an exterior color that I like and then when I go to pick an interior color I like it says not available with the current paint selection, so I either need an exterior color I don't want, or an interior color I don't want, why can't I just pick the colors I want!

Exactly!! I completely agree with you!!

I know, right? It's not a matter of being poor all together, but cannot be poorer than others who got the tax credit after us. 🤣

There won’t be dealer markup. You know if Scouts were sold at a dealership there would be crazy dealer markup. I’m so happy it’s going to be DTC and I can order my Scout how I want it. Not buy what they have on the lot and pay a premium for it to boot.
Mark ups on non-limit production items are results of pure stupidity. They can mark up because idiots kept buying them at that price.

When nobody buys them, price will drop. It's why most vehicles you see nowadays on dealer's lots got discount from them.

It’s not just the dealer markup. It’s having to buy things you don’t want. Coating and lojack and accessories, oh my.

I’m just very excited about DTC and not having to buy from a dealer.

Lol, one trick I learned is just tell the dealer I don't need any of your overpriced "accessories". You can remove them, I only buy the vehicle, at MSRP the most. In the end they give them to you for free, or just no deal. No biggies. Those craps are just what they used to mark up the price on you
