From October, the current EV tax credit will be gone. How will that affect your decision on whether to get EV like Scout?
I factored in the tax credit for my initial consideration. But if the 7500 is gone, that's a big decision factor for meNot at all. I wasn’t counting on it in the first place. Having seen them in person now I’m all in.
I’m hoping I can stay around $65,000. At that price that would be the most we have ever spent on a vehicle.I was expecting it would get removed anyways. The only thing I'm weary of is if another administration comes in and introduces them again after I've purchased (this happened when I bought my Tesla in 2022) which would be very annoying. It currently says $50,000 with incentives for Traveler and $51,500 for Terra so I assume now it will be $57,500 and $59,000 with the credits gone. Only thing it might impact for me is the spec I end up getting. I'm hoping to not spend more than $70,000 if I can help it which might mean a couple of things I want may need to be sacrificed, time will tell.
I cannot fault you for that.I factored in the tax credit for my initial consideration. But if the 7500 is gone, that's a big decision factor for me

Maybe we will get lucky and initial reservations will have a discount.I’m hoping I can stay around $65,000. At that price that would be the most we have ever spent on a vehicle.
I’m really hoping that options are a la carte and you don’t have to buy expensive packages to get one or two things you want.Maybe we will get lucky and initial reservations will have a discount.
Also depending on how they package options and configurations you may be able to buy certain things you wanted and add them over time from a Scout Accessory Store or 3rd parties.
I hate stuff like that, I've used a configurator before where there was one additional thing I would have wanted but I could only get it in a package that cost over $6,000. Another thing on a similar topic, I also really hate when I pick an exterior color that I like and then when I go to pick an interior color I like it says not available with the current paint selection, so I either need an exterior color I don't want, or an interior color I don't want, why can't I just pick the colors I want!I’m really hoping that options are a la carte and you don’t have to buy expensive packages to get one or two things you want.
Exactly!! I completely agree with you!!I hate stuff like that, I've used a configurator before where there was one additional thing I would have wanted but I could only get it in a package that cost over $6,000. I know, right? It's not a matter of being poor all together, but cannot be poorer than others who got the tax credit after us.I was expecting it would get removed anyways. Or if there's a dealer discount. Oh wait, they don't use a dealerI'm hoping to not spend more than $70,000 if I can help it which might mean a couple of things I want may need to be sacrificed, time will tell.
True. I just cancelled my ramcharger depositIt's definitely an impact for everyone but because there's so much unpredictability in the world on literally everything right now, I'm holding off on considering impacts/decisions/etc. until it comes time to order.
There won’t be dealer markup. You know if Scouts were sold at a dealership there would be crazy dealer markup. I’m so happy it’s going to be DTC and I can order my Scout how I want it. Not buy what they have on the lot and pay a premium for it to boot.Or if there's a dealer discount. Oh wait, they don't use a dealer![]()
Mark ups on non-limit production items are results of pure stupidity. They can mark up because idiots kept buying them at that price. There won’t be dealer markup. It’s not just the dealer markup. It’s having to buy things you don’t want. Coating and lojack and accessories, oh my.Mark ups on non-limit production items are results of pure stupidity. They can mark up because idiots kept buying them at that price.
When nobody buys them, price will drop. It's why most vehicles you see nowadays on dealer's lots got discount from them.
Lol, one trick I learned is just tell the dealer I don't need any of your overpriced "accessories". You can remove them, I only buy the vehicle, at MSRP the most. In the end they give them to you for free, or just no deal. No biggies. Those craps are just what they used to mark up the price on youIt’s not just the dealer markup. I’m just very excited about DTC and not having to buy from a dealer.
Around here they will just laugh in your face and say, "Thats fine. The next person will buy it."Lol, one trick I learned is just tell the dealer I don't need any of your overpriced "accessories". Especially when what we were buying was a Supra and an Elantra N that my son was already at 8 months waiting for.Around here they will just laugh in your face and say, "Thats fine. The next person will buy it."
