I agree better late and right than rushed and buggy. And that the extra complexity is a concern. I hope though that with the dominance of Harvester orders they can prioritize it and pull it off as early as the BEV.
Welcome to the community! Love your puppy!!Hi guys, first post on the forum. No matter the EV range, I will take the harvester. I plan to visit remote places and will appreciate the range extender as a safety backup. Will likely carry solar array as well. Happy Scout motoring!
Good plan, but the cost of Rivian is an issue for us. AND THE SCOUT HAS BUTTONS AND SWITCHES!One thing I will mention is that my plan from the get go is to compare the Terra Total EV to the Riven in 2028. If Rivian continues to add range and ev battery technology and SM puts to much energy into the Harvester and slacks on EV then I may go Riv.
Rivians are awesome but for me it’s the off-road look. For someone who doesn’t off-road at all I sure do love the look and the capability even tho I only use a fraction of it. And I love love love the buttons and the compass in the ceiling. Don’t even get me started. I have a list a mile long why it’s the Scout for me.Good plan, but the cost of Rivian is an issue for us. AND THE SCOUT HAS BUTTONS AND SWITCHES!(Shouting my joy not yelling at you.) A good friend has an R1T, a beautiful truck but I would go nuts with the all digital interface.
Great points because if Riv is way more expensive I may be forced to choose Terra regardless of range and tech. I will add that if SM has an option for auto air leveling i would want that regardless of cost. The switches are important as well but maybe not a deal killer for me.Good plan, but the cost of Rivian is an issue for us. Right, except the interface and U/I on screen is excellent, and the Rivian also has physical buttons on the wheel, and has functions on the stalk. So much of the new tech required with EV's & charging actually works much better on a big infotainment screen, than it otherwise would with physical controls. Digital also makes OTA's way easier to implement within the interface and makes improvements a whole lot easier over time.Good plan, but the cost of Rivian is an issue for us. Good question. I’m a no. To me at that point make it a hybrid. If I do decide to stay with the Harvester I still want my frunk.Interested to hear peoples opinion about this -
With potential space constraints and limited engine types with regards to the (Scout Motors) proposed location of the Harvester, would people be OK with sacrificing the front trunk as an engine compartment if it meant easier maintenance access and a simplified, possibly more economical generator/power-train?
Yeah, and they’re kinda obnoxious about it. Their lead designer dude just poo-poos the idea that people don’t like doing everything on a touchscreen. They’re even starting to make the door handles electronic, ie if the system fails there’s no easy way to open the doors. I remember an interview with RJ talking about having some algorithm to detect that you’re driving off the road and into a lake or something, so that it could open windows or door, because once you hit the water you’re screwed. Just give me a physical door handle!Good plan, but the cost of Rivian is an issue for us. AND THE SCOUT HAS BUTTONS AND SWITCHES!(Shouting my joy not yelling at you.) This has been briefly discussed and I’d say general consensus is no. I’m BEV so I don’t care either way. I seem to recall Scott Keogh or someone in an interview “bragging” that harvester is best of both worlds and still leaves the frunk which NOBODY else does so I think this is a design feature that isn’t going away. But that’s my take based on the forum feedback and things said to the pressInterested to hear peoples opinion about this -

I’ll add a question though-why do you feel the location is a limitation? Scout devised this EREV option based on early feedback based on what they wanted to work with.Yeah, and they’re kinda obnoxious about it. They have said air bag suspension will be an option.I will add that if SM has an option for auto air leveling i would want that regardless of cost.
Different strokes for different folks, but no way am I going to tolerate using a touch screen to adjust air vents .Rivian also has physical buttons on the wheel, and has functions on the stalk.
This is why we keep one of these in the front console and one in each seat back pocket.RJ talking about having some algorithm to detect that you’re driving off the road and into a lake or something, so that it could open windows or door, because once you hit the water you’re screwed.
We all have them on our lanyards with our keys. Very important. This is why we keep one of these in the front console and one in each seat back pocket.
