Steering Wheel Button

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

If the nice, round power button on the steering wheel didn't have a logo on it and was instead programmable with most any vehicle function, what would you program your button to do? Also, would you like the button to be a different color, or is the generic blackish fine?

I'd prefer some regen paddles, but in the absence of those, I think I'd use it as a regen toggle, kinda like downshifting gears. Standard regen per my settings normally, but say three additional, more progressively aggressive regen settings with each push of the button. Each time I come to a stop, it reverts back to my standard regen setting.

Oh yeah, I think I'd like it orange, with the Scout "S" on it.

I’ve been talking about the Grenadier a lot today. 😹

Anyway, the Grenadier steering wheel has a red button on it that’s the “toot” horn. Smaller horn for pedestrians and cyclists so as not to scare people to death. I did really like that smaller horn button.

If the button is going to be a color it needs to be Scout orange or blue.

Now my sons Elantra N has a red button on the steering wheel and it’s a boost button. 10 more hp for 20 seconds (or 20 hp for 10 seconds, I always forget which).

As an aside, Grenadiers have a saddle leather option for the steering wheel which is really nice. I still have a bunch of the pictures from when I test drove them.

If a more subtle orange I’d be on board. Otherwise I’d like milled aluminum with S stamped in it. I’m good with it as a start button. ‘s’ for start

That’s a great idea!

I'd like it to disappear altogether :ROFLMAO:

Yeah-I know. Still want a start button 😂. Though telling people is S for smoke and it pushes the diesel fumes out the rear would be fun to say and have people scratch their heads
Maybe I'm too Rivian centric, and I'm probably continuing a "robust discussion" that's already been had on here, but there's no reason for a start button. It's an EV. Get in and go. Even with the Harvester.

But if it's there, pop my frunk. I use the frunk out of my frunk.

I don't have an opinion on color, but I would prefer if it had the Scout "S" logo rather than the power icon.

And I'm a power user, so I want it to be user defined. Have an options menu in the interface that lets the user select from a set of functions.

Oh there has definitely been some robust discussion about it. But this is a great shout, make it a frunk button. Additionally, if the button is going to be there I want it to be orange or have a orange S in it. I'm going full out Scout orange as much as possible!

I think it should turn on an LED light in the compass or a small disco ball should drop from the ceiling

IF the Terra gets to have the cabana, then I'd make it the "open air" button. Touch that button and the cabana opens, and all the windows roll completely down. Then off I go to the beach! :D

Edited to add; I'd love the Scout "S" on it as well, whether milled aluminum, wood to complement the dash, or some bright color. Any of those would look great.

‘S’ for Serenity!
