  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
I know OP isn’t able to do this anymore but I would love to see a Terra compared to the GX550 Overtrail (I think a lot of people will be cross shopping these) as well as the TRD Pro Sequoia.

You think people will cross shop a pick up and a GX or did you mean a traveller? I ask because we almost pulled trigger on a GX and if for any reason the Scout wouldn’t work out I’ve mentally said I’ll be looking at the GX hybrid which should be out by then and I’m looking at the traveller. Only reason I questioned you. Having test driven the new GX and seen the traveller in person I’d say they should be pretty close. I actually think the traveller will have a hair bit more room speaking visually only but will be curious to compare them

I had the same question. I test drove a TRD PRO Sequoia. I’ll be so glad when I have seen the Traveler in 3 weeks. I think I have test driven enough that once I see it I will have a better idea how to compare it to things.

Yes my apologies. Was a bit overindulged. The Traveler not Terra.

Okay this made me start thinking about all the cars I have test driven along this journey to find my next car. Cars have become very emotional for me. I want to love my next car as much as I have loved my Wrangler. It’s not just transportation. And I can say I love my Wrangler and I knew it was going to take a lot to let her go. I started this journey mid-2023. I have test driven 18 cars!!

Wrangler 2 door
Wrangler 4 door
Gladiator
Defender 90
Defender 110
Macan
Santa Cruz
Santa Fe
Ioniq 5
GV60
Bronco
Bronco Raptor
Tacoma
Sequoia
Land Cruiser
4Runner
Rivian R1S
Grenadier

In the middle of this my husband was saying if you want something just buy something and I actually started crying. I couldn’t imagine giving up my Wrangler for something that didn’t love.

And once I saw that shadow of the Scout in the middle of all this I just kept telling him I can’t decide till I see that. And here we are.

Side note, I clearly have no issue walking onto a car lot and leaving. 😹

Everyone has their own way of buying a car. Whatever works for you. That’s a long list, and while you have some time to wait to test drive a Scout, what else could you add to your list of vehicles to test drive?

Hmmmm. New 4Runner, but I did see one the other day and no reaction at all. Just oh that’s a new one. I don’t have Gwagon money but could test drive one if a used one pops up near me.

The thing is since I decide on the Traveler I have stopped looking at other cars. It’s like the switch turned off and the Scout is it.

I’m not a truck person so wouldn’t bother with any other trucks.

Okay what else have people test driven in their car search that didn’t make my list?

And honestly the sequoia and the raptor were because those are about Traveler size and I wanted to see how it felt driving something that size.

I know what’s next! Rubicon X with 35s. My Wrangler has 33s. Want to see what 35s are like. And I’m 99% sure I want the glass roof but the Cabana top seems like it would be close to the Skyactive roof in a Wrangler. So a Wrangler with that.

I need to see if I can borrow a Rivian for a driveway check.

Good idea. I did a test drive and brought it home.

The Sequoia is about the right width and the length is one inch or so longer than the Traveler including the tire carrier. 4Runner is 190 long, so right length but not as wide.
Wow. We had looked at the sequoia but my wife didn’t care for the ride (guess she’s in for a surprise with the Scout-not gonna ride like her Honda and Acura SUV’s. I always think of the sequoia as LARGE but in a good way. I’m just surprised having seen both that they are nearly same size-wow, just Wow!

If all else fails, you might try Turo.

I know right. And I think the Scout will feel just right because 17 inches of that Sequoia length is tire on a Scout.
