Scout Traveler Concept with the Bench Seat - First Look

Hi Scouts!

At Camp North End in Charlotte, NC and we just outfitted one of our Traveler Concepts with the optional bench seat. You all wanted to see it and here it is, with functional armrest as well.

It's interesting just how different and yet similar to the bucket seat version the center is. I actually had to pull up a picture of the other Traveler interior to see what exactly was different.

Obviously this is still concept stage, but I hope in the end the headrest (I'm pretty sure those are required for crash standards) is similar to a 3rd-tow style and that it completely slides into the seatback when not used.

Yes, production vehicles wil have full safety equipment including proper headrests that likely raise and retract. Same for seatbelts and any other requirements.

That would be good to be able to retract. That's the only part of my current bench seat I don't like is that the headrest sticks out there for some strange reason.

That looks awesome! You get the best of both worlds of bench and bucket seats.

Will the passenger airbag cover the center seat? Are there any airbags in the inside bolsters of the front outboard seats? Looks like the center seat is connected to the Driver's seat? Any plans to connect to the passenger seat instead OR make the center seat slide independently (manual bar slider underneath would be my vote).

@Jamie@ScoutMotors Will the production bench seat have any sort of wireless charging spot for your phone? I think in the captain chair model has that feature in the center console area, which doesn't exist in the bench seat. At least I don't see it folded down? Or is that it on the dash above those four toggle switches?

I couldn't help but notice perforated leather on the seats, so hopefully ventilation is an option!!

Also, with that fold-down center, it'll allow me to feed long boards and such in through the back (assuming the hatch can stay open for carrying long stuff). I'd make an adapter that sits in the cup holders and protects the armrest area with an L-shaped front to keep long items from sliding into the buttons and dashboard.

Well, I wasn't sure if I wanted a bench seat because the center console looked so nice in the concepts, but this post has 100% locked in the bench seat for me.

Absolutely LOVE how you guys designed this, its both gorgeous and functional

Nice. Wonder if headrest could be pulled and some kind of convenience tray on posts could slide in as an alternative feature when folded down

Ventilation was shown as far back as the reveal and was also shown for rear seats though I’m sure that is an extra

Not sure what is on the far left side of the dash - and perspective makes guessing size difficult. But if that object is sitting on a tray, and if the tray is large enough - it just screams to me as a place to put a wireless phone charger.

But for all I know that is a key fob (or garage remote), and the area is not nearly large enough for a cell phone.

Yeah I don’t recall seeing that yesterday. We just got home and I know the hubs got a bunch of pictures of the bench seat. They weren’t allowing people up on the platform and my husband even gave his camera to the SM employee and said can you please get a better angle of the bench seat so I know there’s a bunch of pictures. As soon as he has that edited I’ll get it posted.
