From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.
Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.
How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.
Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. I’m dying to drive out there again and go to the NC event. I’m so sad you can’t go, and I’m sad I’m not either.I'm just getting back in the states and trying to catch up in this forum. I know I've missed a lot. I was unable to go to Columbia for the Fireflies event and I have a family event on this festival day. I'm just over 2 hours away and can't go!How awesome would it have been to drive my 1979 Scout to an event like this?! I

I love seeing all the OG Scouts too. Nats was the perfect first event for me to go to to get introduced to the Scout community. Because this isn’t just the new ones. It’s the OGs and their passionate owners as well.
Well said. I get excited just passing an OG Scout on the road or just sitting in a lot with other used cars. It is a rare occasion. When I have mine out, someone will always stop and start conversation about it. It's just fun... I have been fortunate to see the new concepts in Columbia and Blythewood (and maybe I had the opportunity to sit in one
) but to be around the new concepts AND so many OG Scouts would be a dream come true. These events make the long wait for the BEV to be rolled out somewhat tolerable and at the same time painful teasers.

. My other dream is to get to go for a ride in an OG Scout. I have never even sat in one.
There are so many options for riding in an OG Scout. Different model years, different mods/lifts, top down/up and on road / off road. Truly all experiences I wish everyone could experience. My dad had a Scout 800 pickup when I was a teenager. There were 4 kids and a beagle in our family, so when taking off to the woods for camping out my dad, mom and younger brother (sometimes sister too) got to sit in the bench seat, but my older brother and I (and of course the beagle) always got to sit on the rectangular wheel wells of the truck bed but we loved it even in the rain. I remember many times on the rough trails hanging on for dear life as the old Scout handled every obstacle and we just grinned inside knowing that the Scout could do what is designed to do. I do hope you get your chance to ride in an OG Scout. When you are back in SC, stop by and you and hubby can take a ride with me! Now hey I do have a question. So many of the OG Scouts I see are manual transmission. Was that more common than an automatic transmission?
My guess would be "Yes". Maybe my Scout Encyclopedia lists those stats.
I have that book too. I need to read more of it.

All six Scouts in my life were manuals.
I learned on a 73 Volvo Station wagon with a manual transmission, someday I hope to be able to drive a manual Scout. I drove manual for many, many years. Every car my husband had until the Supra was a manual. I’m ready!
I love driving a manual drive vehicle. It makes me feel more a part of the driving experience.
And I don’t care what they say about automatic transmissions, you can’t beat real-gears/engine-compression for going down steep mountain trails.
Agree bless its daily traffic commute. I’ve found the paddle shifters to be a reasonable compromise. Still interaction but not as many steps or constantly holding the clutch in stop and go traffic
Had lunch with my wife's brothers today, one volunteered to handle kids and dogs so my wife could join me. Reservation bumped up to 2 now.
