Brother in law has wanted an EV for years - but he is enjoying retiring at 40 too much (after a golden parachute from a tech company) to want to go back to work and buy one. He was a Jeep owner till the liberal tech company he worked for told him he needed something that was not as offensive to the company image. He got a hybrid, and while it is practically worthless now (technically it has been totaled once or twice, with full insurance pay out) - it still runs fine and sips fuel.
