Is there anything SM could offer to get you to switch from EREV to BEV?

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
For what it's worth, I just switched my reso from Harvester to BEV. After doing a candid review of my usage, 90% of my mileage is a 50 km round trip into Edmonton, 9% is a drive out to where my farm and parents are with some short distance single axle trailer towing for moving my bees, and 1% is 300 km away to Calgary, a major city with tons of chargers. There is a 0.01% of doing a cross-province road trip in which case we take the RAV4 hybrid or go rent a 3/4 or 1 ton truck if I'm towing something. No problem.

Excellent. I really like how you took the time to self examine your use case. What you said makes perfect sense.

Oddly enough I did the same the other day. I had EREV initially given my concern for hurricanes. Then when I looked into the down time for even the most severe hurricanes as well as the amount of busyness of the charging stations when there was an evacuation it showed me a couple of things.

1. The charging stations tend to get power to them BEFORE the gas stations with the average down time being 2-3 days.
2. With our last few hurricanes Ian/Milton/Helene during the evacuation only 60% of fast L3 chargers were taken up at any given time with no widespread reports of inability to get a charge.
3. If I REALLLLY had to I could go over to my folks house who have a whole home generator with a Total Harmonic Distortion < 5% and could charge it up there if I really had to. They have a NEMA plug with a 50amp breaker already installed for future EV charging.
4. I really really REALLY like having a BEV now and the amount of maintenance I have to do currently is ridiculously small. I think I was falling into the hype of having the EREV but wasn't thinking as rationally as I probably should have about it with fear of storms.

Congrats. Hope all the positive BEV use cases here on the forum swayed your thinking as well

One less person between me and my Harvester reservation…:ROFLMAO:

I’m torn between Traveler and Terra. I’ve got a Traveler reserved for now. It could very well end up being the wife’s vehicle. A lot of it comes down to the towing capacity of the Terra Harvester.

i don't think there is anything Scout can do themselves to get me to switch, however, if batteries were to suddenly be able to charge in <10 min, and perform to their fullest in NorthEast winters, I'd be down for sure.
