We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

    Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

    How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Keep in mind that features inside a vehicle are generally configurable and completely optional. Enable what you want - at least in all of the trucks that I have owned recently don't mandate me to turn everything on.

I have no idea what the InsideEV article said, but the current iteration of Rivian's Assistant does not work unless you OPT-IN, and it certainly would not make ACP obsolete unless Rivian natively supported all ACP apps directly through the Rivian Infotainment System. Yes, I have native Spotify in my R1T, which is great - but there is no WAZE, for example.

I'm so uninterested in ai slop in my vehicles that this probably removes Rivian from my shopping list.
Rivian's AI implementation is quite good, based on my limited use & interaction with it (since it was just released). Based on the ability to call the assistant (hands-free) and use it to perform multiple tasks at once, it has not only been convenient, but I would also consider it to be a less distracting way to perform certain tasks. I would say AI can be a safety improvement for drivers if implemented well. Have you used it?

When I hear the term "AI slop" I equate that with results (not AI systems)... Humans conveying, relaying or using sloppy results that are rendered from AI... To me, that is where the slop is.

I think what he’s talking is that it does effectively force you into it by not giving you an alternative. E.g. everyone saying they want CarPlay, Rivs response is you can use AI instead, so CarPlay is not an option. Same with physical controls. Your choice is menus on a touch screen or AI, no buttons allowed. Most folks would have no problem if they were actually given a choice, but that’s not what rivian is providing. They’re saying “you’ll use ai and you’ll like it, so we’re declaring a war on buttons”, partially to save money, but mostly to force users to do things the way Rivian thinks they should, not the way the customer wants to.

I think the term AI Slop has broader meaning, including the current trend to push it everywhere, even when it doesn’t make sense. Yes, if implemented well it can contribute to safety, but the whole thing is very complex and needs much more careful consideration than is typical from the tech bro crowd.
