We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

    Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

Wow-yeah-that’s nuts. They should be able to make those for like $20K based on everything the scout will offer at $60K. Rich folks who live in Beverly Hills?
Even the Moke America (Chinese made), LSV version is $25-30k. And that is with AGM batteries, not lithium. I like them, but they are just too expensive. I see tons of them in Charleston.

Haha, yeah I thought about it but it would have been a crappier cell phone version of this pic. Had this camo, those wheels, and was parked at this angle.

Even if I did take a pic, I wouldn't post it since it was taken on private property while in my personal vehicle which could lead to a bad time.

All that said, if any Scout employees are reading this and want to give a reservation holder who doesn't work in the automotive industry a tour of the office, let me know! Will bring donuts and coffee.
 
Yes, but I wouldn’t mind having a car that dropped me off at a restaurant or concert venue, then drove away and parked itself. Or one that let me take a nap on a long road trip.
I just love to drive. If my vehicle had it I won't use it. Honestly I can't relax in a car unless I am driving, not to the point of not paying attention mind you.

I love features like adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, lane assist, etc. since they all serve as safety enhancement to my driving. I am not a huge fan of autonomous driving not just because I don't trust it, but because what I see all the time on the road (especially tesla drivers) is when these features suddenly arent available (weather, poor visibility, badly marked roads, whatever) those drivers panic because they don't know what to do and are a nightmare to be on the road near.
 
Not to mention how counter-intuitive it is.

Hands free autonomous driving in my electric vehicle cuts down on gas consumption and pollution... powered by massive data centers that pollute drinking water, destroy the local environment, cause health issues to residents, and require massive lifts from the energy grid. It's a net negative.
I would encourage you to listen to the Rivian presentation before commenting because that's exactly what the majority of the presentation was about! They're shifting autonomy processing away from cloud servers and onto the vehicles themselves thanks to new chips they've developed. Also all this stuff, in the form of Autonomy+, is optional for customers to either buy or subscribe to meaning they're not shoving anything down anyone's throats. Don't want it don't buy it, you'll still have normal car features.

For the record, I'd buy Autonomy+ and I hope Scout piggy backs off this tech (and yes make it option for those who don't want it).

I mean, if I don’t want to deal with parking, I'll call a taxi.

There’s no way I would trust an autonomous vehicle enough to nap on a long drive. The sensor hardware in use today (and even the stuff being tested for the next generation) cannot uniquely and safely detect road hazards such as tire carcasses, animal carcasses, potholes, and in some cases they could not even properly distinguish the broad side of a large, stationary emergency vehicle with flashing lights. The technology isn’t ready.

Agreed on car processing being the way forward, even if they stick to Level II+ would feel a whole lot better to me with Lidar and Radar than vision only. I'm really hoping that they add an option to increase the sensors for better awareness for those of us that want it

Yeah.

I’ll cut any vehicle with that kind of garbage off of my list of options.

The problem is that machine learning is an incredibly valuable tool for this kind of use. But I don’t trust the AI industry not to invade my privacy even more than is already happening.

It’s sad. We could have such good vehicles for lower prices but instead we keep having these companies cram garbage like this into everything. What happened to just making a good vehicle?
The AI industry is already invading privacy. It like they are using us as test dummies, similar to the CV-19. AI is used to check for surveillance purposes on websites and break through. Its why AI doesn't cone up with anything original. Every time you ask it a question it gives resources its scanned. Its the biggest security threat in history of civilization.

LLMs are mathematically incapable of creating something new. Because of the mathematics underlying them, they can only use the tokens and token relationships that were generated from the training data. They don’t create; they regurgitate and they “hallucinate,” which can be thought of as looking at the ingredients of regurgitated food from a sick dog and claiming there’s such a thing as rice-eggs laid by chickens.

And the invasions of privacy are worse than just companies knowing about us, those hallucinations appear to create new connections, but they’re entirely false connections (chicken rice-eggs) that appear to be reasonable. Those false connections can lead to some pretty problematic “truths” about individuals.

Well he’s a pretty rich hvac contractor. And he has nothing better to do. He has a Rolls Royce, a Denali Truck, a Land Rover , a Cadillac Escalade V Series, then a jacked up mini cooper, and lastly the moke. He uses it for display lol.

Ohh and I forgot his Tomberlin Golf Cart

That’s kinda my point. If the tech were such that I felt comfortable napping while it drove, or letting it drive around and park itself or pick me up when I go on a long one way hike or bike ride, then it would be interesting. Even waymo, probably the most advanced, is limited to certain areas and requires some remote supervision, and still screws up in ways a human never would. The current state of “fsd” seems like the worst of both worlds, you aren’t driving but you have to stay constantly vigilant and alert.
