Define your lifestyle….

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

Hi peeps! I just read this Scout blog that J was so nice to post.

In it we hear from the intrepid @aileen.barraza and something she said stuck out.

It’s not just a trim package, they are asking us to define our lifestyle. So I thought I would start this thread. We all talk about what we want and what we want to do, but defining our lifestyle is a very different question. I need to think about my answer a bit more but I wanted to start this thread so we all have a place to talk about the lifestyle we want to live in our Scouts.

Retired early. Most of my free time is spent doing stuff with kids or at the ranch (a retirement job that will suck as many hours or years that I can throw at it). Used to fish and kayak very often - hope find more time to do those things again. Perhaps the Scout can help with that.

42 yom. Work in insurance. Own 20 acres of off grid mountain top property in SE TN where I’ve built my own cabin by hand. I currently drive an LX 570, and it has been the work horse hauling all of the materials (up to 1,000 lbs per load) on its roof rack up to the property, or daily driving me to work and back.

I also prefer to drive than fly. We live in a beautiful country with interesting people. I have driven an LX to CO, FL, the UP and everything in between (300,000 miles on my 470, just crossed 111,000 with my 570).

Other than a used LX, there are very few vehicles under $60,000 that can do all of these things well with a family of four, a Great Dane, and all their gear, with nothing but regular maintenance.

The scout appears to be the only vehicle I will be able to buy new for around 60,000 that could fit my lifestyle.

I started this thread and haven’t posted mine yet. So here we go.

I have worked from home for over 25 years now. I can’t imagine myself ever going back into an office. So no daily commute for me. My adult kids still live at home, current economic situation it just makes more sense for them financially right now. I have mentioned before they are both in healthcare. My husband has worked for the same company for 37 years. They never went back to full time in the office after COVID. Right now he just goes in once a week and I don’t see that changing.

All this to say that whenever the weather is bad here in Illinois my vehicle is the one that gets everyone to and from work. Thankfully they are all only about 15 minutes from the house, but both of my kids are in healthcare and even when they tell people to stay off the roads, they still need to get to work. So I need rock solid performance so I know I can get to where I need to go.

Right now my Jeep looks terrible, inside and out. The salt and slush is awful. I love the light colors on the seats of the concepts and I plan on going lighter for those surfaces but the flooring oh my goodness. No carpet please. I need something that can handle dirty shoes and just be wiped off. And not just the floor, but the door sills and the mats. I would like that all to be dark and wipeable. With my husbands car being the Supra my vehicle is the one that runs all the errands. Sam’s Club, Home Depot, whatever. So it would be ideal if the back were an easy to clean material as well. Also the frunk. I could see smaller trip items going in the frunk. It would be nice if there were some sort of system in the frunk and the back that had solid crates so to speak that you could put things like a gallon of milk in, so if it spills you can just remove it and clean it.

The next part of my lifestyle is travel. When we go somewhere as a family it’s the Jeep for sure. I’m looking for something that provides more comfort especially for the rear seat passengers. Those jump seats the Jeep has are not ideal for long trips, and we have gone cross country in the Jeep and to events in other states. I need the ability for multiple people to be charging their devices at the same time. Cup holders that can hold large cups and places to hold purses, backpacks and snacks. When we all go on a day trip everyone is bringing some sort of bag with drinks and snacks. It’s always a challenge where to put them so you can still reach them and they are just in the footwell taking up leg room or next to you on the seat only to fall off when you turn the corner. And a designated space for my purse. Whenever I go to the drive through it never fails my purse is on the backseat and I’m trying to reach it to pay.

I guess what I’m asking for is a place for everything and everything in its place with a pretty yet durable interior that’s comfortable with rock solid specs that I can drive in crappy weather without a second thought.

I don’t think that’s too much to ask. 😹

Thanks again Aileen and team! I can’t wait to see what you come up with next.

I don’t really know what to say about my lifestyle.

Started life off-grid...rancher, farmer, scientist, explorer, overlander, hunter, photographer…

Vehicles are tools for me, so I don’t really “get” the lifestyle aspect of them. If the seat can’t hold up to my muddy jeans butt with a screwdriver in my back pocket because I forgot it there, then the “pretty” becomes pretty ugly pretty quickly. If the quarter panels can’t be functional with a few dings in them, then it’s a waste of design. If the mud on the floor, door, seats, windshield, damages something, then that something shouldn’t have been installed in the vehicle. A touchscreen is a PITA when I have {muddy, wet, greasy} work gloves on. A vehicle that is programmed to behave oddly (shut off when I leave the vehicle) is a PITA. If I can’t charge the vehicle while a trailer is attached, that’s annoying. If I can’t pull 7-10 kW from the vehicle for various duties, then it’s not especially “work-ready.” If I have to worry about throwing a half-cord of wood, a load of gravel, a bunch of rocks, a couple of bikes, some big dogs, whatever into the bed or cab, then I can’t really use the vehicle. After a month of use, the color of the interior trim is “dirty” and the color of the exterior is “dusty, covered in bugs or mud or rain spots.”

I want something that will hold up to me over 100k miles of use and abuse.

47 yo shiftless layabout living off of her family money on the palatial family compound in an annexed Boston neighborhood (versus old-money Boston, I ain't that fancy). My lifestyle includes getting up to use the bathroom, losing knee cartilage, going through menopause, wondering what to do today, deciding it's too cold to go outside today, deciding it's simply too difficult to put a leg over the side of the clawfoot bathtub, and wondering if I should find a place to take kayaking lessons. I have watercolor paints that I have used twice and have contemplated using a third time, but it's too cold. I have not worked in 7 years due to lameness and melancholy. Looking forward to hearing if I got a space in the local farm share.

If my ideal color is Tiffany blue, as in the blood I secretly wish I had been born with, then it's fresh, spring green (the kind that might actually get me to leave the house and touch a blade of grass or several, maybe eat broccoli that didn't come from a Trader Joe's bag that fell out of the freezer). My accessories trend light pink (my favorite color), my clothes are mostly black and grey (save a few pastels and white t-shirts that couldn't be helped) and a couple of forest or olive greens here and there that I thought were complimentary to my eyes (which are green).

My Scout, in my weird idealistic dream world, is going to transform me into a cool adventure person who actually leaves the house and suddenly goes on adventures. I don't know if I'm going to have, like, a secret animal rescue side hustle where I just transport kittens for the local shelter from one shelter to another shelter (I did do that once: it was actually pretty fun because I talked to the cats about their meowing and that is not a thing that I minded doing: as a divorced single woman in my forties, it's kind of within my expected role to have conversations with like five homeless cats about how their day's going) or suddenly become someone who is like WOW I JUST DISCOVERED THAT I FRIGGIN' LOVE TENNIS or make wood carvings with found pieces of wood or something, or even just go to the damn beach or to the state park. I have a national parks pass and goddamnit, I am going to use this pass before the national parks become sorry hellholes devoid of any and all natural beauty because of climate devastation because electric cars came too late. I love color. In my old life, I was an artist. Artistic people love color. Weirdoes like color. It tracks. I'll probably find a color I like as long as you have colors, so please bring some colors. If they're actually found in nature, all the better.

I’m a dad of a 13 and 10 year old. So, at this point my lifestyle is taking them to their activities. I am a car enthusiast and really enjoy driving. That’s a good thing as I have a relatively long commute distance wise (for the east coast anyway). I drive about 50-60 miles each week day. I don’t off-road anymore, but our roads suck. So, robust and comfortable suspension is important to me. Overall comfort for 4 is a big part of my needs and lifestyle. A happy family is a good thing! I enjoy reading traditionally as well as audiobooks during me commute. I like watching comedy, documentaries and sports. But, again, at this phase of life it’s all about the kids!

My kids are grown and no matter how old you are it’s still about the kids and then the grandkids!
