I’m not looking for a Tesla, but I wish more companies/dealers would do short term rentals. That’s how we test drove our current cat, renting one for a weekend. That’s cool, I wonder if they are doing that to maybe lower the cost. Similar to how dealerships, give loaners out, and those loaners become certified pre-owned with a decent amount taken off, because they have 4,000-8,000 miles on them.Tesla is fighting the EV sales slump with short-term rentals

Yeah, I remember coming across him a few years ago. It seemed like he was always ranting about something. At least the video quality looks like it’s improved.

That offroad one though looks... like the design got the idea of "more aggressive", but, somehow ran the wrong direction with it.
Its aggressively busy/akward. Sort of like... A transformer spider eye?

RPOs (rental purchase options) are very big in the equipment world. We do them all the time. We rent a machine to a customer and if they choose to buy it we apply a significant percentage of the rent toward the purchase. It also helps customers that need stronger down payments to be able to convert to finance.
It's sad how delayed they've been at bringing the Semi to market because it's such a no brainer for the transportation industry.

Meanwhile another no brainer solution has popped up in the form of electrifying and motorizing the trailers themselves. Pull the trailer with a diesel and you get improved MPG's. Pull the trailer with an EV and you get increased range.
Edit: Also yes, better MPGs on the diesel also equals better range.
In either case, the nice thing about this is the trailer can charge while it's docked and the semi can continue on driving as needed.

Crappy pic, but this non-AMZN Rivian Delivery van drove by walking the dog the other day. Cool to see other companies taking advantage of the EV last mile opportunity with Rivian. This Factor van is apparently delivering food for Hello Fresh. I think they ordered 70 vans to start. This is the future - makes way too much sense:
You would think Tesla would have tried to capitalize on the trailer market, before getting into Trucks, since those are pretty expensive.
Too pragmatic for Elon's likes I'm afraid. It has to be a big dazzly semi. Meanwhile European and Chinese manufacturers are churning out thousands of normal looking electric trucks by the thousands.
That’s why scout needs to make the Metro and do it with intent to be used for urban and suburban deliveries
Once they have Solid State Batteries it will be the future. For now it’s just an alternative to gas.
But I did see a construction company by me has replaced most of its vans with Rivians, after they built a few of the showrooms for them. Also happens to be a family friend.
It would need to have the styling of an old international van. Keep it within the relative family.
Like Scout designers can so make this van, and plus it’s pretty aero dynamic, ask Elon. It’s the same shape as the robovan.
