Lmao.I don’t know how some of you ever made the leap from candles to light bulbs.
Believe it or not they are basically a rocket scientist, not exactly a Luddite.
They probably don’t trust it because they actually understand how it works

If I was in love with the new Dcout and waiting patiently I think I’d jump on one of these. But I’ve said that before about it. It says Gold in the subtle ways why still feeling relevant as a modern EV. And the size is great! This will be interesting to see.

Volkswagen is about to unveil its most affordable electric SUV

Typically I welcome everyone to the forum. I will say welcome to the community and there’s almost 3 years of information on here so have fun searching the topics that are important to you. Typically I will say @Jamie@ScoutMotors is a great follow and keeps us updated on what’s happening from the manufacturer side. Typically I will say if you can’t find something and need help just ask, someone typically knows the answer and will very kindly answer, even if it’s something they have answered before.I don’t know how some of you ever made the leap from candles to light bulbs.
I’d say for me it would be a total waste. I just wouldn’t ever use an automated driving feature aside from a novelty scare-me trip or two just to see how it acts for the heck of it, then I’d go back to driving myself. I love driving.
Like someone else said, if I want someone else driving I’ll go catch a bus.
Sadly it will most likely not be available around here.If I was in love with the new Dcout and waiting patiently I think I’d jump on one of these. But I’ve said that before about it. It says Gold in the subtle ways why still feeling relevant as a modern EV. And the size is great!
Yes. VW’s tech development boss said. "Although the ID.2 is not expected to be sold in the US"Sadly it will most likely not be available around here.

I will add that I don’t disagree with this thinking but everything Scout has promoted is a hands-on tactile experience. I think some cars are meant for commuting and in time it will happen. I read of a term once called “platooning” where self driving cars and/or magnetic based “hover” cars will travel in small platoons to reduce resistance and keep cars heading the same places together. This all sounds cool as tech advances and successfully demonstrates safe and expected behavior but until it is tried and true I prefer not to be forced into it in a new vehicle. There will be enough headaches which will come with a brand new model from a brand new manufacturer and adding tech that isn’t fully refined just adds to the frustration. Fully autonomous driving is like SSBatteries - until other companies prove longer term real world success I don’t want to be the guinea pig. Fortunately for now SM is sticking with level 2+ which is pretty solid tech at this pointI get your point, but the bus doesn’t park in my garage, go precisely when I want to, and drop me at my exact destination. I’m with the majority here in that the current tech isn’t that useful apart from smart cruise control, but if we someday get to the point where I can get in the car and it takes me wear I want to go while I nap, read, binge watch Andor, or make a pizza in my portable electric pizza oven, then that would be seriously interesting to me.
Plus the bus driver gets really irritated when I leave beach chairs in the trunk because I’m definitely gonna go to the beach soon.
Lmao.

That’s a pretty weird way to introduce yourself to the community.
I don’t blindly adopt technology just because it’s new. I take the time to understand it. And I understand automated driving and route finding because I’ve developed software for it; I’ve worked with teams who have developed it for spacecraft and for extraterrestrial rovers; I’ve taught students to develop it for both digital games and for physical robots.
The technology that’s being rushed to market and pushed on consumers isn’t ready. And it’s not going to be ready any time soon. I don’t volunteer to waste a bunch of my money to be a beta tester.

I think you’re confusing their education and experience with their tenure on this forum.I’ll offer a different perspective. Level 2 is glorified cruise control, odd you do not understand that and
As a subject matter expert I’m sure you are well aware of SAE standard J3016 & level 2+ is basically glorified cruise control where the driver remains in charge.
You are the one who proclaimed you would not buy from a company that wastes money on such technology. I won’t give you a history lesson on the technology you criticize because apparently you pioneered it.
Heaven forbid I offer a different perspective than someone with more posts on a forum.
I am totally at peace. I also actually understand the different levels of autonomous driving are.I think you’re confusing their education and experience with their tenure on this forum.
You came in hot accusing someone of being against tech advancement and are doubling down to save face after they clearly conveyed their qualifications and reasoning, and it’s kind of sad to watch.
Hope you find peace someday.
Cool story bro.I am totally at peace. I also actually understand the different levels of autonomous driving are.
The fact is he is making claims this technology is “being rushed to market”. The SAE standard was released in 2014 & we are talking about a car that will hit the road in 2027.
So yes, I am surprised some of you have managed to make the leap from candles to light bulbs. The surprising thing is how many of you would actually prefer candles.
To be honest I think we did fully understand that and we are preferring that. This isn’t a case of we are right and you are wrong. We have given opinions as to what we prefer. My reference is what was officially stated by Jamie on the forum who runs the forum for SM who stated 2+. My personal thoughts are vehicles like Tesla and Lucid are about technology and new tech and tablets etc…whereas the new Scouts are based on the historical scouts and many of us who owned them, drove them or still have them appreciate them for their simplicity. Adding fully autonomous driving adds complication (in the minds of Scout lovers) and takes away from the history. No automatic pop out handles, no giant tablet screens and much more hands on focus. Knowing people love the Scouts for off-roading many of us don’t feel the need to add time or engineering costs to a vehicle type where the majority of buyers (thus far on this forum) don’t see a need. To several other responses-those of us who have been here for a longer period have seen a lot of trolls come on here and demand v-8 engines and other items in a hot manner while insinuating SM will fail. As fans of Scout we want to see them succeed and we want the forum experience to be positive so that is why many people will quickly jump down throats. I used to be that way and have mellowed somewhat but the general vibe here is people like educational content and conversation versus confrontational attacks-intentional or not. But please offer reasoning to your desires and debate rather than insulting everyone for holding candlesI’ll offer a different perspective. Everything you said was true, but I wouldn’t be mad if the Harvester generator was a small displacement VW TDI engineTo be honest I think we did fully understand that and we are preferring that. They really need a win. This will be interesting to see.

It’s the hurdle of diesel gate because people don’t forget certain things and the negative attention would be a hinderance vs using a regularly produced ICE generatorEverything you said was true, but I wouldn’t be mad if the Harvester generator was a small displacement VW TDI engine![]()
